Just wanted to pop in to say that even adult breeders can become cuddlebugs, given enough time and respect for their boundaries! Not thst theres anything wrong if they dont, but i got an adult livebird from a breeder situation who had never been handled, and its been...three years? And she definitely prefers my company, hides in my shirts, etc <3

That's true, it can just take them a lot longer.

Hazel might never turn cuddly but that's fine with me; if her comfort level remains just being around people but not being handled much, it's cool.

I don't do the 'flooding' methods of taming birds anymore (the one where you basically just hold them in a towel until they calm down) as I don't really feel it's fair to the bird to basically just terrify them until they shut down and accept handling, so we'll see where Hazel ends up at her own pace. :)

((Ooops some of those are stories of my birds, lol. We have two ceiling fans in the apartment- one in my room, and one in the living room where the birds are. I’ve always lived with birds, so it’s ingrained in me to only have my ceiling fan on when I’m alone in my room with the door locked- so that roommate doesn’t open it when the birds are out- but the one in the living room anyone could turn on. So we disabled that one, and the lovebirds adore sitting on the blades

-while making it spin really slowly. They’ll call at us until someone gets up to spin it for them, if they’re being bratty.))

Makes sense to me! :D (also that’s so cute, lol) I don’t have ceiling fans where I live, but I did in college.  Mine never tried to sit on the blades, surprisingly!  But I didn’t have Orzo back then, and it’s totally something he would do.

**extremely Amy Santiago voice** Friend, my dedication to the craft is ludicrous, I wrote easily 75,000 words of historical meta a while back because I was so irritated by pre-war fics that involved Steve and Bucky working down at ahistorical docks, it takes me twice as long to research as it does to actually write fic.

Dedication to the craft pssshhtt, I once spent a full week tracking down Air Force specific slang and in-jokes, research is the shit I live for

I'm trying to work out electricity out in the country. I figure some underground vibranium generator. Bucky has to keep the goat milk cold, and he needs refrigeration for the goat cheese he's making (for Steve).

You know where I get caught up sometimes? I mean, who says Wakanda has to have a power grid? Could their power be some sort of cloud situation, where it conducts through the vibranium but isn’t necessarily stored someplace specific, or connected through one central location?

I also wish we got to see the inside of more people’s houses? Like we spend a lot of time inside of the literal palace, and we see a quick glimpse of Bucky’s digs, and like there’s some animal skins and gourds going on but definitely no visible source of electronic light, so like are we thinking like solar panels or is he off the grid even by Wakanda standards? Is he cooking in a different structure or out in the open? Is his fridge somewhere else or does he not have one?

Watch for discoloration or pus that smells, if you're super worried silver sulfadiazide I think is the topical antibiotic wed use at the bird rehab, along with lactating cow cream u can get from like. Tractor supply. I can count on one hand the number of times an infected toe has lead to a bird death and I've handled literally hundreds of injured birds. Your been in a clean cage with some rest will be a okay boo

it looks WAY better now that ive gently washed it twice. using a little peroxide currently after washing w/ gentle antibacterial soap. will keep that antibiotic in mind ! this really made me feel better tysm ;;;;;;;; 

I already washed all of her perches off and am letting her rest. roomie’s gonna check on her while I’m at work later

Hello! One of my tiels recently was told that she'd need to wear a cone/collar indefinitely. Did you make the one in the video?

No, I got Candy’s collars from birdsupplies.com. It’s an x-small with a velcro closure. :) You could maybe make one yourself, but I like that these are made from bird-safe materials and a lot of research went into the designs.

I dont know about how these are secured shut, but there have been issues with more flashy birds being stolen from them, because people could open them from behind, before the owner could stop them. I'm definitely not saying dont use it! Just passing along information <3
