Everything was changing, and it was changing fast. Faster than Narcissa could handle. Her entire life had been ruled by change. Some changes had been devastating, like going from having two sisters to having only one. Other changes were not so bad, like trading one last name for another. But ever since the incident in the Quidditch World Cup things had not only started changing, but everything seemed to be rolling down a snowy hill. And the end result would leave everyone buried under the crushing weight of their choices.
Today Narcissa had chosen to go out despite the increased security measures that had been issued by the ministry since the events on April 1st. With the threat of riots breaking out almost every day, and three family members running for the highest office in the British Wizarding government, it would foolish to take unnecessary risks. But Narcissa was growing restless. She knew they had to plan their next move, but everyone seemed to be focused on the upcoming elections. Narcissa knew better than anyone that wars could be won with the right person in the right position, but after lunch dates, tea, and days spent shopping, Narcissa had gathered enough information to fear that whoever ended up winning the election might no be someone on their side.
They had to start thinking about a contingency plan. About what would happen if they lost. She had debated against bringing up that splitting the votes had been a bad idea. She was clear example of how things were going to be difficult to decide. Who was she supposed to vote for? Her mother, her uncle, her brother in law? She never acted without considering every possible outcome, she liked to plan and prepare. But so far the end result seemed to be the same, no matter which of the three won, they would ensure the Dark Lord triumph. That’s why Narcissa knew they had to focus on what to do if they lost.
Walking through Diagon Alley lost in thought proved to be an unwise choice as Narcissa felt herself collide against a soft body. This time she was sure had been entirely her fault, so instead for reacting as she would normally do -all head held high and a cold tone- Narcissa faked an apologetic smile. ❝I’m so-❞ the apology died in her lips, the smile vanished, a look of surprise clear on her face. It wasn’t surprise as much as it was shock. Narcissa had not seen this person in years, well she had seen her, from afar, but had not talked to her since they left school. Even during those last few years at Hogwarts Narcissa had made sure to ruin the friendship they once had. ❝Greta❞ Narcissa said in a polite tone, ❝I- I’m sorry I bumped into you❞ because what else could she say?
