A phone dropped with a plop into the gap of couch cushions. Sliding fuzzy socks along the wood as he hurried to the front door, Jimin smiled, grappling onto the handle to reveal your crisply reddened cheeks on the other side.
“Sweetie,” He took little notice of the locks of hair that wrestled in the air on your way here, instead looping his arms around your waist, surprising his skin through a thin long sleeve as the brush of cold polyester tickled his nerves. Breath hitched in his throat when he hugged you against him, perhaps more from the vastly different temperatures between you two. “I missed you.”
“It’s been, what? A day?” You giggled, gladly taking in his embrace like he was a space heater. He flickered pecks along your cheek, lips widening in their smile as he felt your hands clutch tighter against his back.
“So?” Jimin’s eyes flicked from your jittery hands as he pulled himself away, then to the slightest shake of your lips as you said a greeting to a passing Hoseok that wandered along. He imagined too many snowflakes kissing your skin on your walk to the dorm from the station, hence the small huff escaping you when you shrugged off your coat. He took it from your hands, stepping slightly to allow you space to go by, “I’ll put this up. Taehyung was making hot chocolate, why don’t you get some too?”
As you complied, offering to procure him a mug full as well, Jimin sauntered off towards his room. Neatly hanging your coat over a desk chair, his hands connected with a fluffy blanket messily clumped on his bed. Having recently added it atop of his usual sheet set due to the weather, Jimin continued back out of the room towards the dryer down the hall like he had also been doing often lately as well.
“Babe, Tae says you owe him because he had to boil more water.” You walked towards Jimin as he pressed start on the machine then reached for your extension of a candy cane decorated mug.
“He’ll forgive me.” Jimin felt a bounce in his chest at the slightest line of sweet remnants over your top lip, while simultaneously relaxing at your evening complexion from escaping the outdoor weather. “Lovely, why don’t you put on one of my hoodies?” His hand already linked fingers with yours to guide you towards his room. After taking a languid sip of the rich beverage you humbly shrugged a shoulder, causing him to giggle from the unnecessary avoidance.
“I mean, if you’re insisting.” Placing his beside a miscellaneous scatter of items on his dresser, Jimin opened the top most drawer, wood sighing from the pull. “Can it be the green one?”
“Hmm,” He rustled through the fabrics, already intending to grab the aforementioned item since it was the one you always asked for. “Maybe,” He mulled, waiting for the inevitable shadow of your body over his leaning frame. Toes stretched your legs to lean over him with an arm grappling his shirt for stability. Jimin didn’t hide his smile well.
“Please?”
“I could just hug you instead– I bet it would work better than my hoodie, actually.”
“Yeah, or both-” You caught the hoodie as he tossed it back towards you, mouthing a content grin as he then turned around, arms snaking your waist once more.
“Whatever you want then,” Lips kissed over the peak of your prominent cheeks, then sloping down once, another, then over the slot of your flustered giggles. Your hands gripped wrinkles into the hoodie, throat filling with serenity as the slowness of his lips kissing against yours. With concise movement Jimin kept the connection in tact, parts only occurring for the involvement of breaths to prolong the soothe of intimacy against your mouths. Hands strode along the familiar curve of your back, thumbs pinching against your hip bone to cause your tiny jerk away from him, tickled by the touch. He grinned again, eyes becoming new moons as he dipped towards you to press a sweet kiss against your blushing hue, “You’re cute.”
“Says you,” A muster of a reply as your lips aligned into a tight smile at the sincerity in his voice. “Thanks for the hoodie.”
“No problem, sweetheart.” He smiled, collecting his mug before going to sit on his bed, criss cross as you tugged the clean scent over your head. The mug Jimin sipped at obscured the continuance of an endeared smile as your head poked through the top of the hoodie along with a flurry of disheveled locks. “Come here, let me hold you.” You shook your head from the whine of his request, fingertips adjusting your hair properly as you only glanced towards him with a raised eyebrow,
“I thought you wanted to watch movies on the TV though?” You stepped slowly towards his grabby hands, watching with a tiny laugh as he just whined outright,
“Later,” He swiped at your arm once it was close enough, easily tugging you to land with a hand pressed against the mattress, “Stay in bed with me right now, it’s warmer here.” A peck against your forehead, “Please.” Then to your nose as you giggled further, relaxing yourself against him when his arms wrapping your waist against his own.
“Whatever you want, I guess.” You pressed your lips against him before he was able to verbalize a sound of contentment. Your hands cupped the sides of his face, steadying it as you kissed a flurry over the visible skin, only furthering the happy laughter emitting from Jimin’s mouth.
“Close the door,” A warm darkness momentarily shrouded atop of your figures with the drape of a large blanket. “Or else Jeongguk will call you both losers if he walks by.” Hoseok simply smiled as he heard your embarrassed huff against Jimin’s chest. The door shut behind him leaving you both in a huddle beneath a freshly heated blanket.
Jimin shook the blanket off your heads, a grin growing wide as your face remained hidden against the crook of his neck, “See? Bet you’re much warmer now, hun.”

You were hesitant to mention anything throughout the week. When you were able to speak to Jimin, whether through texts or the short hours of time you visited one another in person, he was clearly busy. Of course with how much work his job entails he would be preoccupied, and the added comeback only a month out didn’t alleviate any work, but instead added. You found yourself unable to bother him with the date that ended up slipping up without a word spoken from either of you.
The first anniversary of your relationship was on a Wednesday; dead middle of the week. Jimin’s workload aside, you also had your own things to do and knew you wouldn’t arrive home until late anyways. There was no need to put so much weight on expectations; you both could celebrate when there was more calmness hanging in the air. You weren’t upset, truly.
So upon walking into your apartment, you simply shrugged your bag off your frame, along with a rain jacket that ended up being useless as grey clouds teased the idea but never followed through with your prediction. Rolling the shoulder previously supporting your bag, your sighed into the assumed emptiness. But as you heard a small scurry coming from your kitchen, and a muffled wince of pain following what sounded like bumping against something, your head perked forward.
“You’re back finally!” Jimin’s hand pressed against the archway leading into the kitchen, his sock clad feet causing him to slide more than expected. “I was starting to get worried.”
“What are you doing here?” You asked, eyebrows raised out of shock, but your curling mouth gave away clear happiness. Quickly kicking off your shoes, you listened on as a series of chuckling began in regards to your newfound excitement. Just managing to take a step forward, you were met with Jimin’s arms easily taking refuge around your waist, his lips finding the same sanctuary in pressing against your lips.
“What do you mean? It’s our anniversary, silly.” The warm bouncing of your heart, may as well radiated from you like the sun in response to his gentle words. His smile induced a domino effect of softness gracing every crinkle his eyes made when looking at you. “Did you forget?”
“No-” You shook your head immediately, trailing your arms upwards to wrap around his neck. “No, I thought you did, and I didn’t want to put more in your schedule by reminding you.” At this the smile nearly dissipated altogether, Jimin’s head cocking in minor confusion at your idea. “I mean, you’re so busy, I didn’t want to bother-”
“It wouldn’t have been a bother, love.” He cut in, lips going to visit your lips in the form of little fluttering petals. “Never; this is an important day.” He explained to you, buttery trails still being created as he ran his kisses all over your face, “I can’t believe I got the first date, let alone a year. A year.”
His eyes caressed your brightening expression with a fond glow emitting from deep irises. Starting to rub his fingers contently over the dip of your back, he shortly inhaled, but your cut off further action by going ahead and lovingly attaching your lips back on his. Tensing from a frenzy of butterflies and an imaginary tune emitting from his heart at your sudden contact, he found his lips rippling back open in calm giggles.
