don’t get me wrong, I’ve had this blog since 2007, they can pry it from my cold dead hands. but also I’m bored with the space anyhow and wanna try venturing into new lands.

no one should be forced to get along with people who have hurt them for the sake of someone else. If the people who hurt you means something personally to you and you can/want to forgive them, that’s a noble task to undertake, 100% your prerogative, and I hope it goes in your favor. But it’s really shitty when people hurt you and you can’t say anything because that would just “complicate” things for someone else. And I hope for everyone in a position like that that whoever you’re trying to protect or appease has the observance to see your needs and the nuance to understand that it’s not up to you to be the peacemaker. Relationships are complicated but, you deserve a support system too. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. What really matters is people who respect “hey I’m glad you care about them, but I can’t know what they’re up to.”

if it feels like something has happened to the amount of content/participation/enthusiasm of a fandom you once loved, consider not WHERE the people went but WHY they left. maybe they got sick of the in-fighting. maybe the source material no longer provided them enough inspiration to keep creating. maybe they’d rather not live in a world where the only voices that are valid are the ones that subscribe to the One Pure Ship and black and white morality that fandom here now seems to hold as a crutch for exploring real issues. 

maybe people are hiding on other websites because they’re just so damn tired of discussing fandom shit on tumblr (I know I am)
