the end of all things [ 15.nov.79 ]

She sent the letter and she waited. Sirius had come and gone, and Cassie sat down and wrote the letter to Barty--
Barty,
Speak to no one. Come to the house as soon as you get this. It’s an emergency.
Cassandra
She never signed letters Cassandra, not to Barty, and she hoped that her panicked, scribbled handwriting would be enough to have him get there soon. She needed him. She needed to fall apart.
The door was unlocked; there was nothing stopping Barty from when he finally got there. Cassie sat there, in the dark, and waited. The clocked ticked on the wall, her shoulders shook. She hadn’t even told her parents yet. She needed to tell them. She needed to tell Beni.
She couldn’t think of anything she wanted less than to tell Beni that Regulus was dead. Except perhaps telling her parents, telling Barty, telling--- she never wanted to speak of it. She wanted it to just not have happened, she wanted to go back, back to before any of this had happened, go back to before--
She couldn’t do this. She couldn’t do this. Her shoulders shook even harder, and she pulled her legs up to her chest. She couldn’t do this. But she had to.
