broad daylight.
@magpiemi
it’s midday, the sun nearly at its peak, and by all rights and reasons, park jisu should be in school. he had put his uniform on that morning, a task he does almost every morning regardless of if he actually has any thought of doing anything productive with his life, grabbed his phone and backpack, and left the house. a real house, not the homes he stayed in or bounced around between; a house owned by his mother and father, who constantly encouraged him to actually go to school. he’d promise them he would, and then he’d find himself anywhere but.
it just so happens that yeji lets him get away with his teenaged delinquency.
“i’m hungry,” he whines to her, pouting rather pitifully as if he still was the orphaned kid who didn’t have a penny to his name, as if he didn’t have someone else’s wallet already in his pockets, credit cards already abandoned in favor of keeping the cash and hoping the leather was worth anything at a pawn shop. “noona, let’s get lunch together.”
he makes the suggestion as if he doesn’t already know she’ll insist on paying for it. not that he’ll resist her offer anyways; survival instincts and old habits die hard. he never starved in the group homes, but the food wasn’t exactly quality.
a glint catches his eye, sunlight off of a suited man’s watch. jisu watches him carefully, sizing him up as if to make him his next mark. he could do it, probably, given enough time and the opportunity to get his hands on the man’s wrist. but it’s not necessary as it used to be, and maybe not as fun without starling or robin. jisu glances at yeji, wondering if she’d be game. he knows she’s pulled a trick or two before, but he’s not sure she’ll condone this level of delinquency.
