I Can’t Win
Aiden was exhausted. Two-a days at practice were slowly but surely wearing Aiden and his teammates down. But with the big games that were happening and were set to happen, there really was no time for breaks. Unfortunately, that wasn’t something Aiden’s mother understood when she had made a random and unexpected appearance after his practice the day before, prompting him to a dinner that Aiden had suspected would’ve gone well. However, that wasn’t the case. When she began voicing her opinions over the relationship he had made public with Jamal, it was more than evident that his mom, much like his stepdad, did not approve. Not because Jamal was a bad person or anything of that matter, no, but because he was a guy.
All things considered, it added to Aiden’s stress and when the conversation wouldn’t let up and his mom tried pushing a female from long, long, ago-- Melanie-- all to which Aiden had had enough of and so the dinner had been cut short with a prompt kiss to her cheek and the check paid for before he was on his way. Now, usually, he would’ve gone straight home to Jamal- -straight to the one person who would understand him-- but given the circumstances and the topic at hand, Jamal, there was no way he was going to be adding that stress to Jamal. Still, it seemed inept when Jamal started to become harsh within their text messages and pushing Aiden away-- for what reason, Aiden still has no idea as he’s walking up to the front door of their home-- but that didn’t stop him from going home and falling asleep in his--their-- bed with Jamal out on the couch and Gamora at his side.
Turning the key in the lock and opening up the door, Aiden can hear the tv quietly as he sets his bag against the wall, keeping the bag of dinner and setting that on the island before he hears the patter of feet running up to him. “Hey, Gamora!” He coos with an inevitable smile as he leans down, scratching behind her ear and her immediately enjoying the attention, plopping on her stomach only to roll over onto her back. “What have you been up to, love?” He asks her, laughing as she growls playfully when Aiden stops his scratching for brief moments, clearly annoying the pup. “Gettin’ yourself into trouble, I bet, hm?”
