The giveaway is open worldwide, but please keep in mind that shipping is most likely going to take a little longer because of the pandemic.
🐇 MDZS NETWORK REQUESTS! CLOSED
For the second event we have decided to open requests. The admins, as well as some of our members, will be making the requests and posting them from the network directly. Here is a list of members who will be participating in the event, and the type of content they can create for requests.
To make requests, please do not send us asks, but make them through our Google form.
REQUEST RULES
You can request gifsets, graphics, fanfiction, edits, video edits, or fanart. Nothing else.
No NSFW requests are allowed to be made. If you do send in an NSFW request, it will be deleted immediately.
We won’t accept shipping requests, unless it’s a canon ship such as Wangxian or Xuanli. Requests of other relationships, such as familial or platonic ones, are of course welcome.
Your requests can span over all the MDZS adaptations but we will not accept crossover requests with other fandoms.
We will start accepting requests from tomorrow, April 14th. Depending on the amount of requests we’ll receive, we will cap off the requests when we see fit.
Thank you, and we hope everyone is in good health!
With the news of two admins stepping down and relinquishing their admin duties, we are now looking for two to three new admins that would like to join the MDZS Network admin team! As an admin you’ll have to be ready to answer questions, queue up to three times a day from the network tag, manage application periods, and host events.
If you’re interested in becoming an admin for the network, please send a DM to @mdzs-queue and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Please note that you have to be a member of the network to apply as admin.
Rather unfortunately we have noticed an increase of reposted content within the fandom and, despite the fact that we have already addressed this issue last year, we have decided to touch down on it once again. Please read this post for more information and tips on what to do when you spot a repost of someone else’s original content, and how you can support content creators.
Part one: what is a repost?
Reposting vs reblogging
When you reblog someone’s content, you are simply boosting the original creator’s works on your own blog. Reblogging is just that, sharing content of thing you like on your blog and acknowledging the time someone has put into creating that content. In no way is reblogging harmful to content creators, in fact it allows their works to be more widely spread around Tumblr. You can also like content creators’ posts, but the like function here does not work in the same way as it does on Twitter or Instagram in the way that it will show the posts you like on other people’s dashboards. Reblogging is actively encouraged by content creators.
When you repost someone’s content without their permission, you give the impression that you are the original poster, which isn’t true. Reposting is right clicking on any content to save it to your device and then to post it, in its original format, onto your own blog. Sometimes reposters will also crop an artwork or a gifset or even a video edit in such a way the watermark on it disappears, so that any and all traces to the original creator are erased. Both cases, but especially the latter, are incredibly disrespectful towards content creators and are a main cause for why so many content creators are quitting Tumblr. Reposting is actively discouraged by content creators.
Over here at the network you will notice that we only ever reblog our members’ original content, this for the very reason that every post we reblog onto the network can be traced back to the original creator’s blog should anyone want to check out more of their content.
Please refer to this post for a more detailed explanation.
Part two: why is reposting bad?
To put it short, if you repost something without asking the original creator for their permission you are profiting off of their hard work. Content posted to Tumblr doesn’t appear out of thin air, in almost all cases a lot of time and creativity goes into content creating. Artists do not spend hours drawing to see their art reposted, gifmakers do not spend hours trying to get their coloring right to see their gifsets reposted, fanfic writers do not spend hours perfecting their plot to see their fanfics reposted. Reposting someone’s original content is incredibly disrespectful and insulting. There have been many content creators who have given up content creating because of this reposting issue.
Of course we do not expect you to know all this if you’re rather new to Tumblr, which is why we’re making this post. You can make a mistake, we all do at some point, but when someone reaches out to you to ask to take their original content down, don’t argue back to them and just do what they asked. Content creators distributing their content online does not give you a free pass to repost that content.
You wouldn’t run off with Vincent Van Gogh’s artworks and claim them to be yours so it’s not difficult to show the same respect to online content creators.
Check out this post for a F.A.Q on why reposting hurts content creators.
Part three: what can I do to help?
Inform the original content creator
The original content creator has intellectual property (IP) rights over the content they create and distribute online. Their artwork, their gifsets, their fanfiction, their video edits, every single piece of content that is put online has immediate protection under copyright laws. If you take that content and repost it somewhere else you may suffer serious consequences of your actions. This happens very rarely, but creators have every right to sue you for IP infringement if you repost any of their original content.
Here on Tumblr you can redirect content creators to file for a misattribution report, or a DMCA notice which they can submit on most social media websites. If you would like to help a content creator submit a DMCA notice, check out the links below:
Twitter: here
Tumblr: here
Instagram: here
If you want to help a content creator file a DMCA notice on another social media website, then please check out this post for more resources.
Inform the network
Not only did we discuss the issue of reposting last year, we also decided to make a list of known reposters within the fandom. If you know of a reposter on Tumblr, Twitter, or Instagram, please do not hesitate to send us an ask with their URL plus the type of content they repost and we will add them to our list. Any and all Tumblr reposters are immediately blocked by the network.
Part four: more tips and interesting links!
Tips
If you encounter content online that you really like (an artwork, a gifset, a video edit, etc.) but don’t know where it’s originally from, leave it be. It has most likely (however this is not always the case) already been reposted by the person on whose blog / page you found it on.
Captioning content that isn’t yours with “credit to the artist” or “found on [website]” is not equal to giving credit to a content creator who gave you their permission to repost their content. Do not repost without permission and proper credit.
Content creators aren’t forcing you to reblog every single thing in sight by saying ‘reblog don’t repost’. Content creators come to Tumblr to share original content on the things they love, so they won’t appreciate it when you reblog their posts only to rant about how terrible it is. If you see something you like, reblog it. If you see something you don’t like, scroll past it.
Do not use Pinterest, We Heart It or Instagram as a source for your edits, these websites are built upon reposts that more often than not go uncredited.
If you reach out to a content creator to ask for their permission to repost their content and they don’t answer you, do not take their silence as permission to repost. Always reach out to content creators if you want to repost their work, there are no excuses not to. Content creators reserve the right to deny your request at all times.
Do not make up excuses along the lines of “[content creating] can’t be that hard”, it’s denigrating and offensive to content creators. If content creating weren’t that hard there wouldn’t be so much reposters on here.
Support content creators! Boost their works by reblogging them onto your own blogs, like their posts and interact with them, tell them you think their content is rad. It gives a lot of creators the extra motivation to make their next piece, and a compliment in general is always appreciated.
