Drop It
Solo with @dakotaxmp (and @mppersephone) continued from here:
Ā āThe fuck I canāt!ā he huffs and keeps walking. Heās determined to put as much distance between him and the god as he possibly can right now.
Ā āDonāt be following me Hades, I see your lying ass over there ābout to take a step,ā he spins suddenly to face the other a few feet away. His hand is raised and one finger is pointed at the other nearly accusingly. āYou donāt want someone mad at you, donāt text like you wanna ask āem to the ball then spin that shit around with āOh but Persephone..ā. Fuck that shit Hades! Youāre lucky I aināt Eros you tryinā to pull this shit on- youād break his heart!ā
He starts to walk again, only to whirl around once more, āAnd donāt you be tellinā him I said nothing! You didnāt hear nothing, so donāt say nothing.ā
Ā And with that the demigod storms off. Trifling as fuck, player bitch assā
Although he wants to put himself in motion to follow after Dakota, he stops short when the demigod calls him out on it right away. As if somehow the young man has eyes in the back of his head, even though Hades is pretty sure thatās not one of the bartenderās skills.
So the leg he wanted to move freezes in place and he just watches the way Dakota walks away from him, ranting at him for his choice of words. It makes him feel bad, admittedly, the way Dakotaās being so clearly hurt. He was sure heād been clear enough about joking when heād mentioned perhaps the demigod and him could go to the ball together. But then, clearly, he hasnāt been. Considering Dakota is obviously hurt because Hades had first suggested that - jokingly - and then, after being told by Dakota that it probably wasnāt gonna work, bringing up he was going with Persephone anyway.
But here he is now, looking after the demigod with a slight frown. He feels bad for having hurt the young male, but heās also worried all of a sudden how other people might interpret the way he delivers things. He knows he says and does things other people donāt always speak aloud, but he always thought the people that know him a bit better would know when heās serious and when heās just having a good laugh.
Just like he thought this time around that Dakota knew he was joking about it.
It makes him wonder who else might have misinterpreted something heās told them, who else might have taken a joke as truth, or the truth as a joke, depending on his expression. He thinks of Jinah, and suddenly feels relieved that she has expressed interest in the Celtic demigod who lives across the hall from her, considering it means she at least has not developed the kind of feelings for him that he wouldnāt be able to reciprocrate.
But is there anyone else? Any other misunderstanding?
The question keeps haunting him, the uncertainty of perhaps having accidentally hurt people he didnāt mean to hurt. Itās bad enough already that heās hurt Persephone by telling her of the way he felt after their prolonged separation before she came to talk to him again. His feelings have changed once more since then, but he fears that she might still be suffering the consequences of the things he has told her, as well as the things that have come to light with the appearance of his son.
Still, he feels like Persephone and him will be okay. He hopes.
He honestly doesnāt know what he would do with himself if one day the goddess would tell him she never wants to see him again, after all.
