stars in our eyes • beau + ellis
If you'd have asked Beau a year ago if he'd had ever thought he'd be in love, you'd have got a muffled response hidden beyond the flushed cheeks but somehow there didn't seem any other way to explain what he was feeling. It wasn't an easy feeling to describe and so Beau never attempted; he'd never been comfortable in articulating something as complex as love anyway. A lot of his feelings settled within his actions, preferring to demonstrate them that way than embarrassing himself with his own stumbling words and awkward phrasing. There were a lot of things Beau managed to mess up; he didn't need Ellis to be one of them.
Peeking up at her from where his nose had been buried in his first assignment of the year, Beau was glad that she hadn't noticed him yet. They'd been together for months now but he was still always so concerned about what she thought of him. He wanted to be someone that Ellis felt comfortable around; someone that she adored as much as he did her. With the blood orange tones of the early evening seeping in through the window, it reflected off of her golden skin in the most beautiful way. Even the the warm honey tones hidden by the usual daylight seemed to be revealed now, and Beau found his breath getting caught in his throat.
How he'd managed to end up with someone that he felt was perfect for him, the boy would never know. They seemed to perfectly match in every aspect and Beau's heart pined when she was away; longing for the person that understood him like no other. In fact, Ellis was one of the first people Beau had ever felt comfortable sharing the fact he was deaf with which was such a huge deal for him. She seemed for distant than usual lately, not only physically but emotionally however Beau seemed to cloud over the ache with longing kisses and the feeling of her fingertips on his skin.
Teeth digging into his bottom lip, Beau dared a small grin at his thoughts. Ellis was sat opposite him, back against the headboard of his bed and completely oblivious to his gaze. As softly as he could, he placed the notebook he was writing on next to him and in a fluid movement, shifted closer to the girl. "Is it weird to miss someone who's in the same room as you?" Beau asked softly, his tone teasing and eyes full of warmth as they gazed up at her. He definitely shouldn't be distracting her from her work too, but it was a sort of payback considering that he couldn't even begin to focus with her around.
"You look so beautiful right now, you know that?" he murmured softly, moving more comfortably so he could press his lips against her cheek. Thank god Beau was wearing his hearing aids right now, all he needed to hear was her voice. To know that the slight worry in the back of his mind could be quelled by something as simple as that; the only requirement and he needed it.
