Jack sat on the edge of one of the docks, letting his legs dangle a bit as he watched the sun set. He had decided to run this way, because it tended to not be as busy as the parks were, especially now during the summer. The sound of the water was calming, and Jack leaned back, so that now he was looking straight up. He felt so tired, one that was set deep in his bones and as he listened to the water, he slowly felt his eyes close before darkness over-took him. But it wasn’t long before he shot back up, breathing hard as he tried to get himself to calm down and inhale the oxygen that his body was desperate for. It didn’t get rid of the images of his nightmare, of the fire engulfing the house, of him not being able to get his brother back, and of course the ever present one of being grabbed and attacked. Typically it was a russian roulette of which one he got, but sometimes life decided to say ‘fuck you’ and give all three. He focused on his breathing, eventually getting it to calm down and brought his legs back up, so that he could start putting his sneakers back on and head on home. However, he heard footsteps behind him and tensed before turning around, “Oh, hey. Come to see the sunset too?”
