♖ — All of this started with a severed toe. If it hadn’t been for his bad luck and some gardening shears Michael may have never had the first clue that he was not A C T U A L L Y related to Lincoln. Not that it mattered to him, his brother had always been there for him and THAT was more important than a little DNA but, it did raise questions. All those questions were things that Michael had to wait to get answers too until he got out of Fox River.
His plans-- they didn’t come to fruition as he had hoped. Laying on his bed which really it was nothing more than a cot with a stiff wool blanket on it (he’d had better when he was camping as a kid) Michael took stock of how badly everything really had gone. Nothing went the way it was supposed too. He could have kicked himself and beat himself up over and over again but, the last thing he promised Lincoln was that he’d move on. Keep living and that things would be alright. (that last part was a lie) How would things E V E R be alright without his big brother? The one person who without fail managed to protect Michael and at the same time keep him grounded?
Parole was a blessing and a curse. It was an ugly label to carry around and Michael wished (hindsight was 20/20) that if he was going to fail he would have thought of something different. Something a little easier to look past on your criminal record. Getting a job wasn’t going to be easy but, for the time being he was going to try and figure out what Sara had hinted around at about Lincoln and himself. That maybe the two weren’t ‘ brothers. ‘ The idea of it seemed insane to Michael but, while he thought back he could vaguely remember his mother treating Linc different and his parents fighting about it. T H A T of course raised questions in his mind. It created a new puzzle with pieces that he needed to find before he could even begin to put it together.
The first answer he got came in the form of cryptic writings that were Michael’s father’s. Just random notes about Lincoln’s family which made no sense to Michael but, it gave him somewhere to start. Unfortunately, with no one to ask questions to Michael needed to try and hunt down some kind of birth certificate. It wasn’t easy but, his father had never been nearly as clever as he liked to think he was or maybe he just didn’t like to keep secrets from his family. One word stuck out and that was what made Michael’s heart sink-- twin. Lincoln had a twin. There was still someone out there-- maybe and that was the puzzle that Michael NEEDED to solve. The question he needed answers too.
