Seren didn’t know why she had decided that now was the time to approach the younger dragon, she had watched him for years and sometimes left little notes just to direct him towards a goal he had set or towards someone who needed his help; it was rare for either of them to openly approach one another.
“I must commend you, you’ve learned to hide yourself so well from the humans” she tells him softly as she moves to walk in step with him “Although hiding yourself is not always the best thing to do, companionship does wonders for the emotions”
Not that she used her own advice, she probably hid away more than he did, he had his fledglings, she had her stars.
He barely looks up from the ground as he keeps walking, putting one foot in front of the other, not caring where he is headed. He knows exactly where he is, knows exactly how far it is to the nearest town and how long it will take to meet the first human soul.
“They are not the kind of companionship I want,” he answers, just as softly, a small smile playing on his lips. “They are loud and so fragile, there one second and gone the next... As if they never existed.”
He finally looks at her, the smile still in place. “It is good to see you, Seren.”
