My Dear, we're Slow Dancing in a Burning Room || JJ & Nina
JJ had been in the car mere seconds after Nina had broke the news to him. He knew he hadn't responded in the best of ways. Yelling at her was the worst thing he could have done when she was in such a bad sate. He had no self control when it came to containing strong emotions - anger, sadness, shock - they all managed to overtake him and cause JJ to no longer be in control, to not think before he acted or spoke. Snippets of how he should have responded ran through his mind as he hesitantly grabbed the key out from other the doormat, silently thanking God that it was late and that meant Nina's parents were probably in bed. Sneaking in after midnight was not the best way to make a good first impression. He took careful steps throughout the house, taking the stairs as quietly as possible before making a beeline for her room. He walked in and quietly closed the door behind him, bracing himself against it. He took in a deep breath, not exactly ready to turn around and face her.
