Bummed Out [Freedom War: Co-Op]
Disclaimer: Freedom Wars is a game I thoroughly enjoy, but like every game playing with random people can be troublesome.
There were four players: A (the room host), R, C and I. I figured A was only on Code 4 because they were posting Code 4 quests (most players are Code 8 and post Special Ops quests). My guess was also supported by the evidence that the room was restricted to Code 4 quests or lower.
[Note: I joined A’s room because I wanted to help a low level person out. I also knew the quests would be a breeze, which is a good brake when you have been farming C and D-Type along with Alpha versions.]
A posted a quests and R, C and I would breezes through the Abductors (they were MK1 = over kill). I would congratulate everyone after the mission, even thought it was for R, C, and I. It’s a fun, “cute” little thing I like doing it to help everyone in the group feel great about the last quest.
A left the room, followed by R, after a few missions, leaving C and I. I knew C was OP (a term I use for Code 8 players who have LB weapons/deal more than 2k damage and are exceptionally good at the game). C posted a quest containing a C-Type Abductor (C and D-Type Abductors are the ones which I still struggle with when battling). I knew this was a bad idea with just the two of us fighting a C-Type, but I still accepted the quests. I thought C could be that one people who can solo this quest? Although, I had a good feeling we would fail the quest.
The first have of the quest flew by. C and I both flew through the first wave of enemies, preparing for the next, C-Type. When the C-Type first spawned, its first phase is always easy. My lack of experience fighting that type of Abductor showed, but I didn’t panic and fail the quest. Then phase two started. My inexperience shinned through as I became cannon fodder till the quest failed (we only had a total of five re-spawns. C was the one using most of them and reviving me before I would use one).
[Side Note: For some reason, after failing a quest some people feel it is “acceptable” to leave afterward. Without a word. It is a common occurrence, but not everyone will do it to you.]
Due to the kindness I had shown C and the fact this wasn’t the first quest we went on, I thought C wouldn’t leave immediately. Since they seemed experienced at the game, I thought they would give me a few tips on fighting a C-Type.
No. The quick relationship I had formed with a stranger over the internet named C was one sided. C left the room the second they loaded in, leaving me alone. Feeling bad that I had failed them.
From this story I learned that while I may be confused, mad, and sad that others will leave a room instantly after a failed quest. C left for a reason I have no idea what it is and that is okay. I shouldn’t get mad at them nor anyone else who does this. Especially considering a lot of people end playing a game on bad notes.
