"Congratulations, Mr. Carmnine. Your wife has given birth to a healthy baby boy." The words echoed in his head though the sudden crashing of pots and pans in the kitchen jolted him from his memories of the day his son, Satoshi was born. Pushing his chair back from his desk, he pushed himself to his feet hurrying to the kitchen where he found the boy surrounded by various cookware. Bright green eyes looked up at Toshi from the floor, a smile capable of lighting even the darkest of rooms beaming up at him.
"And what do you think it is you're doing my little one?" An eyebrow raised from behind glasses that framed the doctors face perfectly, a smile of his own tugging at the corners of his lips as he stepped through the door way.
"I was trying to make food, daddy." He giggled, climbing to his feet. He made his way through the mess of dishes to stand in front of his father. Looking up at him, small arms wrapped around the mans leg, clinging onto the fabric of his pants until the giant bent down to scoop the boy up into his arms.
Nuzzling his nose against the boy's cheek, Toshizou laughed softly, balancing his son against his side. "Well that is certainly not how we make food. How about you help me put all these away and then we can make something together. We can surprise mommy when she gets back home." It was enough to stop his heart, the way Satoshi's eyes lit up and he nodded eagerly, excited about the idea of surprising the only woman constantly in their life.
It was moments like these that made Toshizou proud to be alive. He had everything a man could ever want in life. He had a beautiful and loving wife whom held his heart since childhood and a beautiful son whom had been created as a result of the boundless love he shared with his wife. Had he known that the future held darkness, that the fates had different plans for him, maybe he would have avoided the whole family thing all together, but at that time, he was a simple dragonkin, unaware of the truth of a majority of his childhood nightmare.
