Kung Fu Panda 2 : Shen

ALERT SPOILERS ! THEORY ON SHEN

To the end of the movie, on the final battle between Shen and Pô, I cannot help but be very touched by the way Shen go. He sees the canon fall towards him and rather than flee, which he is totally capable off, running or flying, he stays and close his eyes.

I can’t help but feel a lot fo him because here, we can all see what he craves so much it’s the inner peace and since he isn’t able to change his ways to find it, and he knows that, he rather choose to die to find it.

It’s heart breaking.

Though, when the fireworks start to blow from his boat a few minutes later, I can’t help but think the canon did not killed him right away. And that in his agony, he wanted to offer people something to cheer about, and on his last strenght, used one of his metallics paws to light the fireworks up. 

When they light up, you can see a figure of peacock before the Yin and Yang symbols appear. It remained me of how Oogway left in the first episode and I couldn’t help but see a very poetic farewell from Shen.
