I had a really good idea. For those of you wondering, this cartoon is from a Brazilian and Spanish channel, and they released this song today. I'm also thinking of making an animation of the newbies teasing the veterans with this song, because I remember, I think Charles or Alonso called them kids. Then the idea came up—a song by the rookies—but I’m not sure if I should include Arvid.

WHAT THE TEAM SAID – RACE DAY IN BELGIUM

RED BULL

Verstappen started well and very, very briefly took the lead on the opening lap. That did not last long, and he soon found himself in a battle with the two Ferraris. Pitting first of the front runners, his out-lap was hampered by a VSC so he could not quite gain enough on the fresh tyres to pressure Antonelli ahead. The Dutchman then lost out to Leclerc – who had a cheap pit stop – and never managed to make that time back up, settling for third place at the flag.

Hadjar had a strong race as well from the back of the grid, pitting early twice to cycle through the tyre compounds whilst under Safety Car conditions. The aim was to get him to the end on one set of hards, but that was a touch ambitious. Nonetheless, the strategy calls helped him recover to the top 10 and run in sequence with the rest, so a third stop did not cost him too many places and he just managed to hold off a charging Norris late on.

Max Verstappen, 3rd

“I think we had a very good race, and hopefully we can have more weekends like this. I had too much deployment from turn one to turn two, and when I looked at my battery, I knew that I was going to have a difficult run. We were then a bit unlucky with the VSC, and it affected the strategy and our ability to fight for P2 in the end. The Medium tyre was pretty decent, but we struggled a bit on the Hard tyres in terms of grip and had few balance limitations, so we just need to analyse why it was a bit trickier than expected. However, we had the car in a good window, and I think we can be happy with the whole weekend and pleased to be on the podium. Overall it was a good result and a pretty solid weekend!”

"I'm very happy with how today played out. We had a clear plan from the moment we arrived in Spa, so we were able to put everything into getting the most out of the race, and we did exactly that. From P21 to P6 is not easy, but the strategy was perfect and the pace in the car was strong, so it's been an all-round Team effort. With the Safety Car, we pitted early to give us options later on, and it worked out perfectly. Credit to the Team for that call. Going through the pack is always fun, especially with the pace we had, which let me keep the gap to Lando once he started to get closer. The goal yesterday was to get back into the points. We added a few more on top of that to make for a satisfying afternoon."

“A strong weekend for the whole Team. It was good to be in the top three in Qualifying, but it’s even better to be here on race day and have the pace. As we said yesterday, Kimi was probably beyond us today, but behind him Max was right there. He was running well for P2 on merit, then the VSC happened and that cost us. But that’s part of the game. We are happy about our 300th podium, as well as Max’s 130th podium.

“Isack also showed extremely strong pace, coming through from 21st on the grid to take P6 at the flag. It was certainly his best race with us. It seems like every time he takes another step forward. It’s great to have two very strong cars.

“The Team back in Milton Keynes and at the track is working incredibly hard on all fronts to bring and unlock more performance and we were able to fight for the podium in the last three races. We won’t stop until we find those final few tenths needed to get back to winning races.”

WHAT THE TEAM SAID – QUALIFYING DAY IN BELGIUM

With Hadjar set for a back of the field start, the Frenchman’s main job was to make it to Q3 and provide a tow for his team mate. That is exactly what he did, twice, and it made a big difference. Verstappen grabbed second, powerless to stop Antonelli powering to yet another pole. But the Dutchman admitted that P2 might have been P6 without the tow, paying credit to his team mate afterwards.

“I think we really executed well as a Team today, and we're happy to be starting on the front row. The whole weekend has been positive: the car is in a good window, and the balance is decent as well. We have just been lacking a bit of straight-line speed compared to the other teams, but we have been able to maximise the potential of the car. Of course, Isack helped me out in Q3 with the tow in the final sector. A big thank you to him, as it is one of the main reasons why I'm sitting here in P2 for tomorrow's race. We gained around three tenths of lap time, so without it we likely would have qualified around P6, given how close the gap to the others was. Tomorrow will be more about looking in the mirrors and defending the cars around us, so hopefully it will be an interesting race.” 

Isack Hadjar, 10th, No time set in Q3

"Our mission was clear today, and we executed it, so we can be happy with the day's work. I knew I had to get into Q3, and we managed that quite comfortably despite having limited one-lap pace as the car was set up for the race. Max might have been up there, but I was happy to do the job for him and the Team. It’s a little difficult to give a tow with these regulations, not knowing how the engine would behave as you have to manage the deployment differently, but we timed it well. Tomorrow, I hope I can work my way up the grid, stay patient, and get back into the points.”

“Max and Isack have been on the pace from the moment they went out on track yesterday and that allowed us to progress well throughout the weekend. Not everything is perfect with our package, but we are now talking about the final few tenths to ultimate pace and the discussion is no longer about a bigger gap. That is a credit to everyone back at the factory and we will focus on reducing the gap even further.  

“We knew coming here that we would have a penalty with Isack and that he would be starting from the back of the grid, so, from early in the weekend, the plan was to make the most out of this situation and to get Isack to also help Max throughout Qualifying with slip stream. He and the Team executed this to perfection and that has certainly helped getting Max on the front row. We have been a long way off the straight-line performance Mercedes has shown this weekend and the tow certainly helped reducing that gap.  

“Looking ahead to the race, Kimi looks untouchable but there is going to be a great battle behind him for the podium and we will fight to be in that mix. As for Isack, his performance has been extremely strong all weekend again. It’s frustrating to have him starting from the back but we know he has the pace and the race craft to fight his way back through the field.”
