obstacles.
@vxctrcs / raehwan and sangwoo / main house.
he’d heard, about what sangwoo had said to the staff. he always does, about almost everything. information snakes out along the grapevine in the son family. hushed secrets, and the retellings of something spun dramatic. raehwan is sure he’s been the subject of such stories countless times over. the same way that sangwoo has. but usually it’s not like this. after all, who would defend him?
and he still doesn’t entirely get the why. a little bit, sure. he understands that at one point they had something. that at one point sangwoo cared about him. but there’s a limit, a point that’s met and then it all collapses. the boundaries of their family, of their curse reign them in. keep them all locked into place and following after their destinies. and raehwan hates it, rails against it, and he hates sangwoo too. for running, sure. but mostly for leaving him behind without a second thought.
and hearing about how he’d defended him in light of raehwan meeting the consequences of pretending sangwoo doesn’t exist...well. it doesn’t erase that anger. it doesn’t make everything better, not really. but he can at least see that sangwoo is trying. more so than cornering him outside and alone had proved it, anyway. the anger doesn’t leave him. it burn in his chest. bright, hot, uncomfortable. but the next time sangwoo wanders into the same building raehwan’s in he doesn’t pick himself up and wander off before he finds an empty space to slip words into.
“you don’t have to do that, you know. i can handle my own shit.” it sounds defensive, but not outright angry. progress, maybe. he’s trying. an attempt at reaching out after far too long. after a betrayal that left him winded. he chews at the inside of his cheek, drags a hand across his own midsection, idle movements. a betrayal of his uncertainty, anxiety.
