Johnny = Oedipus
Similarities between Johnny and Oedipus Rex.
Extremely affectionate relationship from mother to son. (Letter on 603)
Oedipus killed his father with a horse drawn carriage present, Johnny's father was killed by a tractor trailer.
Oedipus's mother died of asphyxiation from hanging herself with her own robe, Johnny's mother died of asphyxiation from hanging herself with her own bed linens.
Lastly and perhaps most significantly, Oedipus stabbed out his own eyes with a brooch from his mother's gown, Johnny claims a piece of his mother's jewelry after her death.
