“Ollie don’t,” Kara warned Oliver. She knew that if Oliver addressed Matt or did anything towards Matt it would only further anger her boyfriend. As angry as she was with Matt, the last thing she wanted was to have a fight break out and make things worse between them. Oliver had every right to be angry at Matt but Matt wasn’t the type to stand down after something like this. Before she could stop it though, Oliver was throwing a punch at Matt and Kara was left in stunned silence. She knew what was coming next. Kara knew that this wasn’t going to to go over well with her boyfriend and she grew concerned for Oliver.
“Matt, please,” she begged him when he recovered from the punch Oliver threw at him. She was about to make her way towards him to calm him down when he ran towards Oliver, throwing continuous punches at her best friend. “Matt, stop!” Kara begged her boyfriend, watching uselessly as the two continued to fight. She could feel tears starting to fall to her cheeks as Matt continued to threw punches at Oliver. She’d never been scared of Matt in her life before but seeing this now, seeing the way he was attacking Oliver for no reason, she felt scared for Oliver’s safety. From the corner of her eye, she could see Mati nipping at Matt’s pants, trying to fight Matt for attacking Oliver and that scared her too. She was scared of Mati getting hurt.
Letting out a scream when Oliver fell over her coffee table, she sunk to the ground and began to sob. When she watched Olive’s body go weak and stopped fighting, it snapped her out of her shock and she promptly walked over to them. For a moment, she worried at Matt had killed Oliver and the flash of pain she felt in her chest was almost unbearable. “Matt stop, Matt, you’re going to kill him,” she said, trying to push him off of Oliver. “Stop, that’s enough. You’ve done enough and you’re scaring me,” she finally admitted. “Please don’t make me call the cops on you.” Lightly hitting Matt on the arm to get him to let go, she then shoved him off of Oliver. “Ollie,” she whispered. “I’m so sorry Ollie.” Kara continued to cry as she cradled Oliver’s head.
In his state, Matthew didn’t even notice that Oliver had stopped defending himself. He was just punching him wherever he could as often as he could. This was how he usually was. This was what happened whenever Matt got so angry. It was like his mind went blank and all he could do or think about was fighting. Everything else around him disappeared and all that was left was his punches and whoever he was punching. In this case, that was Oliver. The boy laid there practically lifeless and Matt couldn’t bring himself to stop. He just couldn’t. The blond didn’t even feel Mati nipping at his legs. All he was focused on was punching Oliver. At this point, he couldn’t even remember why.
Eventually, Kara’s voice made it to his head. It took him a moment to realize that it wasn’t just a voice in his head and that his girlfriend was actually calling for him. Everything around them started to clear up, his vision no longer blurred. With heavy breathing, he quickly got off of Oliver. He needed to blink rapidly before his vision cleared completely. Lowering his hand, he looked down at Kara’s roommate before watching the scene in front of him. As he realized just how bad things had gotten, he almost took a step forward before deciding against it.
If he were honest, Matt couldn’t bring himself to feel bad about what he had done to Oliver. It was that part of him that couldn’t bring himself to care about others that he didn’t care for. Even if Oliver meant something to his girlfriend, it was like something inside himself was broken enough to make it hard for him to care that he just beat the shit out of an innocent person. That innocent person didn’t matter to him, so why should he care? What he did care about, however, was the look on Kara’s face and what she had said earlier. “Kara…”
Finally. Finally, Matt got off of him and he had never felt more relieved in his life. It was like he could finally breathe and boy did Oliver gasp for his life for breath. Wheezing slightly as he struggled, he kept his eyes closed, mostly because he couldn’t. His face felt swollen as hell and he felt blood coming from… somewhere. Everywhere. He couldn’t tell. He just knew he felt blood. Even though he knew he was laying on top of a broken table with broken pieces everywhere, Oliver couldn’t stand up. He could barely move. All he wanted to do was lay there until the pain went away - if it ever went away. Then, when he heard Kara calling his name, he did his best to open his eyes. The best he could do was open one of them. “Kara…” he whispered, groaning when she moved to cradle his head. “C–Can you please… He… I don’t want him here. Please. I… It hurts. I-I… Please make him go.”
