I haven't watched GAMEOVERSE yet but I'm already seeing a lot of similarities between it and PIBBY of all things

just think of it:

Both shows feature a female main protagonist and a goofy male sidekick (for as little screentime as bunbun got, you could still consider him Pibby's co-main character for the original in-universe "Learning with Pibby", speaking of which;)

Both shows take place in a sprawling multiverse consisting of various "worlds" which represent (or are) instances of a certain medium (i.e. Pibby has cartoon shows, Gameoverse has video games)

Both shows deal with the destruction of said worlds and the characters' attempts to survive them

in Pibby, the characters' shows are getting cancelled left and right and they have to survive the ensuing apocalypse

in Gameoverse, the worlds get destroyed when the player beats the game, loses interest, and summarily delete the associated games (represented by the planet associated with the video game FUCKING BLOWING UP) and the main characters of the show have to stop this event from happening or otherwise save the NPCs of this world from getting swallowed up by the event.

And most vaguely; both are iirc indie shows. Gameoverse is Glitch-owned, and Pibby had a cartoon pitch for [adult swim].

Though, iirc, Pibby's teaser trailer featured actually then-copyrighted characters (e.g. the scooby gang, bugs bunny, craig of the creek, etc) alongside original characters, but Gameoverse iirc only features original characters.

Another big difference is that Gameoverse actually made it to the pilot stage. Pibby was rather infamously cancelled, leaving only the teaser trailer and the adultswim takeover event. Still,

Both shows foster(ed) a subfanbase revolving around reinterpreting other shows and games that weren't shown or featured into being under threat of both shows' respective main threats (Pibby and the Darkness Glitch, Gameoverse with the sheer fact that Kit and Gobbles are trying to stop the players from beating their games.)
