The walk to their neighbour’s house was usually a very short one but for some reason, the teenage girl seemed more than in a hurry to get there. She even ran up a few feet ahead to get to the door first and knock before her mother could even reach it. If Catherine didn’t know her daughter better, she’d think she was hiding something. Maybe she just got really excited about Captain Underpants. By the time the redhead finally reached everyone else at the door, the two girls were already heading out apparently, and seeing her mother about to say something, Erin beat her to the punch. “We will be careful crossing the streets, yes I have enough money, and I have my phone, and even a first aid kit. We’re good, we’re going, see you after the movie!” It all left the older woman completely baffled, still standing on the porch. “What just happened? Did I miss something?” she asked Tom, utterly confused.
