Beautiful, unique ceiling light by Paavo Tynell from the Pallastunturi Ski Lodge (architect Jouko Ylihannu, completed 1948), Finland 1947, with hand hammered shades made of solid copper, a rather unusual material for Tynell. On the second image there is a view from the lounge room facing the deserted Pallastunturi fell with outstanding and rather special highback loungchairs by Lasse Ollinkari with reindeer covers on the backs. The pendant lights even in here are by Tynell. The ski lodge in whole is a great example of the short lived period of the new national romantic style in Finland after the wars, where the designers and architects used a lot of natural materials such as solid timber and got inspired by nature and folklore as a counterreaction to modernism and harsness of the war.
