kanto was born to a messy marriage, in which his parents were always fighting and getting back together. his father was a terribly busy doctor, cheating on his mother more than anything, while his mother, the heiress to her family’s money, was basically a socialite, loving being part of that circle and was no more innocent than her husband.
once she found out she was pregnant, their relationship took a more peaceful route, but after a couple of months of being born, kanto wasn’t a reason to be civil anymore. they divorced when he was three. kanto can’t remember seeing his dad for most of his childhood, and instead of being resentful, kanto simply doesn’t care about his absence.
kanto and his mom, kang yubin, left ulsan for one of yubin’s family’s extravagant houses in seoul, where he lived until he was seventeen. he got everything he wanted whenever he wanted, his father’s fat allowance combined with the kang’s old money being more than enought to keep him alive for at least fifty years. it wasn’t hard for him to get used to his easy money and life style.
kanto went to hundreds of social events with his mom, always the easygoing and well educated kid around. a little older, as a teen, he slowly learned how to present as the charming and alluring man he is now.
after high school, he decided to travel around. kanto lived in japan, england and the u.s in the span of three years, going back to seoul for college by 20, thanks to his grandparents. they demanded him at least a degree in exchange of his carefree way of living and he accepted to take business and administration.
although supposedly being the well mannered and educated heir most people knew, kanto, as most men, was actually garbage. JFNDSJG not but really, he would always go clubbing and fooling around, drinking and smoking like there’s no tomorrow. that’s how he met the red lions, how he got familiar with the gangs and decided to take his never ending money to use. he got in by offering money, because kanto just buys everything in his life apparently. then, after college, he chose to open a club where the red lions could make business, acting like a partner rather than just a member.
i guess it’s easy to figure out his personality?? he’s really a spoilt kid, such a smooth talker, probably there’s a significant amount of people who can’t stand him, thinks he’s funny, knows how to act like he’s sweet (deep down he actually is i guess fdsiughf), doesn’t act like it but is pretty smart and well. thats it. jfsidf
[ THREE / THREE ] hi hi, it’s KRIS again and here goes my last muse, the oldest & the wildest of my bunch, ROWAN ! he is the older half brother of @trvgicheart & he is RED LIONS’ trusted founder / leader ! he’s made of chaos and lives for the trouble and is just ... a lot to handle ! if you’d like to plot smash that heart & now that this last starter is up i have no excuse to not plot i swear !! ily all thank u for listening to my tedtalk !
he was born as CHAE HANSOL to a very wealthy chaebol family, and thus is the heir to this empire they have created. ( the conglomerate is huge, think lotte ! ) according to his family, he is to be the next predicted ‘ genius ’ who will further the company when the time comes.
( INFIDELITY ) in the beginning, hansol was to be an only child. his family believed that only one child was necessary to continue the legacy, but his father ... was unsatisfied with that. unbeknownst to his family, hansol’s father was always off with other women, and most of them had children afterwards. in total, ( including himself ) his father has seven children, all different ages; in order for them to keep their mouths shut about these illegitimate children, his father paid these women off in advance and they were happy enough.
( BLACKMAIL ) one of those children was gunhwi, and his mother was not as satisfied with the payment their father provided. she was so unhappy with it that she came by the chae household, just a few months after gunhwi was born, and demanded that he stay with the family and she be paid monthly or else she’d expose him ... which was incredibly, incredibly unideal for the family and their reputation.
reluctantly, they took gunhwi in and agreed to look after him. since hansol’s mother was a private woman, the timing worked out with gunhwi’s birth and he was revealed as a family member just as hansol was years ago.
he was only four years old when gunhwi entered his life, and so hansol didn’t believe anything was wrong with his family. growing up, he noticed how his mother treated the younger somewhat coldly, but paid no mind to it as that was how his own father treated him. a one for one, give or take.
however, while his mother treating gunhwi coldly was actually undeserved, hansol absolutely deserved being treated coldly ... for the fact that he loved causing trouble. while seen as an angel in the eyes of nannies and his grandparents alike, to his parents he was anything but a saint. loud, messy and troublesome, he was most definitely a lot to handle.
he loved his parents, but the small boy loved having fun too !
his troublesome behaviour only worsened when he found out the truth about his family and gunhwi. when hansol was ten ( and gunhwi was six, ) gunhwi’s mother paid a visit for the first time and exposed the truth to them, which turned out to be his father’s worst nightmare for two reasons: one, his family now knows of #His Truth, and two, hansol knew of it.
hansol may only be ten years old, but he’s way too intrusive and clever than his father would like. somehow hansol had gotten access to the information of his father’s other children ( all girls ) as he grew older, and managed to befriend his half sisters that remain unknown by his mother, gunhwi and his grandparents to spite his father. then, once he considered them ‘ family ’ he invited them over to his father ... just to see his reaction.
while he, his sisters and gunhwi were all playing together, it’d only be his father and him who knew who these girls really were.
eventually his father got tired of his shenanigans, and sent him abroad from ages fourteen to eighteen to lessen the headache the young male always seemed to give. his father masked it as ‘ wanting to give the next heir a higher level of education ’ but they both knew it was a load of bullshit.
it’s in manchester, england where he lived with his maternal aunt when he adopts the english name ROWAN, and for awhile ( much to his parents’ surprise ), he seems to mellow down and becomes the model son they’ve always wanted him to be. he’s studious, polite, hardworking and kind, they’re expecting great things for his return.
the truth is that there’s just no way he could rile his father up all the way from manchester, so he sucks it up and does what he needs to do — besides, he couldn’t wait to see the surprise on their face when they realize he has only gotten better masks.
when he returns, he heads straight to university while also interning in his family’s company. it’s not really fun, but to say he’s unprepared is a bold faced LIE. he knows he was meant to run an empire, but he didn’t want to run someone else’s empire.
THE CREATION OF RED LIONS & EVERYTHING AFTER !
during his time in manchester, he encountered many different people leading completely different lives. some were aiming to be doctors or soldiers, while some had already found their home and sense of purpose in a gang. no, he was absolutely not a criminal, but the idea thrilled him enough to want to try.
luckily for him, a close friend of his, also unbelievably rich due to his criminal activities was willing to start one together, recruiting people from various bars and clubs they both secretly frequented as potential members; rowan ( the name he preferred to go by in the gang while he went by hansol with his family, ) was only twenty-two when red lions was first established.
in the beginning, red lions had two leaders: rowan and his good friend. however, that was short-lived as a trusted source had informed him that his ‘ good friend ’ of his was planning on selling him and the rest of the gang out to the authorities, taking their money and supplies for himself and running ... obviously that did not sit well with rowan here.
( MURDER ) without a second thought, his ‘ partner ’ was gone. friend or not, he does not take lightly to backstabbers. just like how his father had cheated on his mother, there was no way rowan was going to sit back and let him do as he pleases, especially since any form of exposure to the authorities would endanger everyone else involved; he was going to protect this family no matter what.
now as the sole leader of red lions, after three years of running things he believes he’s doing well. ignoring the amount of promiscuity in most members, he thinks they’re doing well for themselves. he lets them have their fun as long as they get their tasks done with good results.
he views the red lions as a family ... much better than his own ( sorry, gunhwi ! ) despite the fact he would never say it out loud. as a leader, to fellow red lions members he probably seems like ... a really chill dad, up until they see him when he’s stressed or pissed the fuck off by his personal life ( aka his own father lmao ). the gang knows he’s a chaebol heir, and they probably know he lives this double life ...
he doesn’t care about word getting to his family, because at the end of the day they would do their absolute best to bury any sort of scandal—whether true or not—to protect their family name; he isn’t worried at all of being caught by them.
definitely rough around the edges a bit but he means well :((( especially when he’s in Protective Dad Mode ...
ROWAN AS A PERSON !
this man ... this 174 cm tall man ... he really Does Not look like much at all but he’s not to be underestimated ! he is capable of being a fearless leader while also being a model son ... the duality !
to the gang, he’s mostly seen as ... serious, strict, calculative, organized, boring ... up unil he’s off duty. truthfully, he’s never really ‘ off duty ’ unless absolutely necessary, but when he’s relaxing with either a cigarette in between his fingers or a bottle of vodka, he’s rather mischievous, troublesome, flirtatious and friendly ... very unlike the working man members usually see.
gang dad? gang dad.
but don’t call him that, unless you want him to flick you on the forehead.
he’s often seen with a black face mask on even if members know who he is. he’s somewhat paranoid, as he never knows who will step onto the property. this is all due to the fact that his own friend, someone he trusted so much, was willing to sell him out. there needs to be the right amount of evidence ( aka his whole face being shown ) presented when / if he is ever caught, and he’s just being careful.
he also doesn’t play favorites in red lions. gunhwi may be his brother, but he won’t treat him any special way unless he’s scolding him AHSKSSHJS ... we’ll get into this more later.
on the other hand, with his family he’s still seen as both a dirtbag yet also a model son. he still causes trouble in order to rile his father up, and is very much disliked by the old man due to his behaviour. his mother is proud that he grew up, but his father knows better. unlike with the gang, he’s not really seen as responsible or capable, but he also doesn’t prove his worth until it really matters ... soz .
ya boi has mental health issues but i can’t ... think straight right now so ... maybe another time ! just know that his depress*on exists.

knowing her now, you’d never assume she had a difficult childhood. she was living in poverty, her mother could barely afford to keep their current place, it pained her to see her mother working so hard to receive nothing in the end. she didn’t know what she could do to help. at the young age of six, maeko learned how to shoplift. that’s where her desire and lust for material objects began. she also loved that she didn’t get caught. that made it all the more fun.
she was so good at it. she never felt that fear of being caught because she was too smart, too calculating. she felt as if she could provide for her and her mother. unfortunately, her mother passed when she was in high school. this part of her life, no one really knows and she’s not willing to share. she’s more than happy for everyone to label her as this rich bitch who goes to Hermes more frequently than your local grocery store.

born in china to two v. high maintenance parents, aka very influential people (mother was a supermodel and father was a dodgy yet successful lawyer) who basically, from a young age forced him to be educated to his maximum abilities and constantly stressed him the fuck out !
typical lonely childhood, spent years slaving over books and being home schooled (including languages, like korean) etc. (does it connect to his lack of ability to show affection now and inability to adapt to overly social scenarios? mayhaps!)
graduated high school at 14 and yeah it was a show of his intelligence but he had a moment of revelation where he just thought what am i doing with my life ..... his parents had effectively stripped him of friendships and human encounters and everything kind that’s typically associated with childhood
how does he retaliate ? he steals 5 million dollars off his parents and runs off to korea. there might have been better ways to handle that situation but not in this world !
upon deflecting paparazzi and dipping from public eye as well as hiding away from his parents for around a year, hui runs into a bunch of ppl who offer to take him in and help him (whats he gonna do? say no?)

he was born into the oh family as a blessing. ae-ra and dongchan were trying for a baby since they first got married but they never made it. however, it was when they stopped bothering with trying that made their little bean appear?? uGH ! dongchan’s sperm mind...

hyunjae wasn’t spoiled like any other rich kid. his parents still made him work for what he wanted to show him that no one is gonna hand you greatness on a silver platter. he appreciated this lesson til this day.
unlike his father, dongmin, his uncle, was not the best guy to be around. the eldest male was known as a scam artist and a thief. it shocked citizens to find out that dongchan was related to such a scumbag.
still, no matter how many times ae-ra’s side of the family protested that he should be nowhere near their priced possession, the crook was always included in hyunjae’s life. birthdays, talent shows, sport games, all that good stuff. sometimes he was there more than his actual parents since they were busy dealing with improving the city.
since being a baby, hyunjae would be attached on dongmin’s hip anytime the male was out of the city. his parents never knew about this bc the boi was shady af & they even let him BREATHE in the same direction as their baby boy if knowing what he was doing.
hyunjae was around six when he overheard a conversation with his father with his uncle that resulted in a fist fight. he didn’t hear much but he did catch that that his father was sick of his uncle being irresponsible and so fucking stupid. #mood
after that he barely sees his uncle anymore. it made him kinda sad but it put less stress on his parents.
from 6 - 10, HONEY, the nickname he doesn’t dare speak of that his grandmother gave him, was a sweet child. liked watching crime shows and reading sherlock novels. sometimes stole candy.
life changed drastically when his parents were celebrating their 5 year anniversary a month after he turned 11. they dropped him off at his grandmother’s place and went out to dinner. they said they would pick him up in the morning and spend the day with him at the zoo.
a day turned into a two. two turned into five. five turned into a week and a half.
it was like they vanished in thin air. & it didn’t help that when the police were contacted, they couldn’t find a single thing relating back to them. they only had the car they were in, which was parked at their home yet they weren’t there. nothing indicating that something bad happened since nothing was out of place. no signs of force entry either. so a missing person’s case was filed.
not knowing what to do, his grandmother took him in only to have his uncle snatch him away. in dongmin’s defense, the woman was too old to walk let alone take care of a child.
so he raised him to a fine teen. sport jocky, multilingual, all that nonsense.
teen!hyunjae was living his life like it was golden until he came across an interesting phone call between his uncle and some man on the phone. suddenly they were traveling to seoul and meeting some guy who was not happy. in the end, he witnessed a whole new side of his uncle & boy did that fuck him up.
dongmin knew the kid was baffled by his actions and not by hid words ( as he locked him in the car while talking to his client ). so he decided to get him into the world his parents’ wanted him away from. the world of gangs!
first off, nO, it wasn’t in his intentions to get him involved with the gang. but hyunjae was smart af and could do more than some of the members did sooo
he was sixteen around this time. now he was balancing high school, being a negotiator and translator, and keeping the public outta his business after the news of his parents’ case going cold hit the screen.
nearing 18, he was introduced to drugs. narcotics, cocaine, lsd, you name it. they started letting him count the product and bag it up. this then led to him organizing routes and finally being 1/2 of the top people handling it.
shockingly he never really ... learned the gang’s name ??? like his uncle was just like “yo, do this my intellectual nephew” and hyunjae was like “..yah!”
so it was not surprising when he was cleaning up his uncle’s penthouse and came across a box he’d never saw before. he didn’t want to snoop as it was an invasion of privacy but y’know how that went
inside laid his mother’s sky blue purse, his father’s rolex, and his mother’s golden locket that she never took off. these items were what was last seen on them before they disappeared.

because of this, the police force was hella impressed with his progress. they offered him a position as an undercover spy to take down more gangs but he declined at first. then it occurred to him that these people are literally ruining kids’ lives, him being one of them. it crushed him to think of other innocent people going through this so he accepted it.
now at 24, he’s still trying to figure out what exactly happened to his family. grandmother passed away due to heart failure, but that was then ruled out as her medication was increased unknowingly. his parents were a forgotten memory in changwon, which caused him to move to seoul. plus it was less expense than driving back and forth.
