The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that August Battaglia, trading as QMP Sales, has successfully met the requirements of a $2,575 reparation order issued under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA). This order resulted from unsettled payments for produce transactions. Following this compliance, the Westmont, Ill. company is now cleared to resume operations within the produce industry. August J. Battaglia, identified as the sole proprietor, is free to engage with any PACA licensee as an employee or affiliate. PACA manages produce transaction disputes and can issue reparation orders to hold individuals accountable for breaches involving fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables. USDA enforces sanctions on unlicensed businesses failing to meet PACA reparations, including license suspension and limitations on related individuals. Once reparations are settled, employment restrictions on those implicated are lifted.
