golf wars was a fantastic episode because it was the first glance at pacifica's home life and how she was raised and the pressure on her. cause like. there are so few hobbies I imagine she was allowed to have outside of golf and mini golf. her parents hated her getting dirty, so any other sport was a no-go. and golf is considered respectable enough for them to want her to be as good as possible - for their reputation. it's so interesting to see pacifica genuinely asking them to come watch the match, because moments before she did she was told winning and looks were everything. and she responded as if she had heard this a bajillion times before. even just standing there because her parents weren't there to pick her up she didn't act like this was a new thing for her. I can't help but wonder how many times she's had to wait somewhere in the dark no matter the weather just for her family to never come get her
