Pacific coast wildlife favourites: Number 1) elephant seals. These enormous animals come to beaches in California and southern Oregon in the winter to breed. We saw this colony right from the roadside;the males were fighting, making a crazy noise somewhere between a noise and a fart, while the females lay in the sun trying to ignore them.
