mini event starter for @eviepreston
Mason was tidying up at the small book store that was a little hidden gem on the beach front. He had befriended the owner and agreed to help out a couple of times a week for some extra cash. It was a normal day, the sunny was shining, people were enjoying summer break, most people walked by but a few stragglers would wander into the store either because they were actually searching for a book, or they wanted to cool down in a place with some AC. The bell rang to indicate someone had entered, “Welcome!” Mason called out with a quick glance and noticed it was a girl from that group that was staying in the blue beach house. She was the latest to arrive and she always seemed to have her nose stuck in a book. It seemed fitting that she was there.
It was only the two of them in the store, the owner had stepped out to run a few errands. Sometimes Mason found it odd how trusting people could be, this wasn’t the first time he was left to watch over the shop. He had just placed the last book he had on the shelf when the earth started to move. At first it was small but it soon grew, books were falling off of shelves and instinctively he went over to the only customer there and saw that the shelf behind her was about to topple over. “Watch out!” He pulled her out of the way, they both barely made it without being crush.
He held her protectively until the earthquake passed. "Whew,” He sighed, taking a step back. “Are you okay?”
