I want to write a wedding one shot for Marcus and Phoebe but I have issues which led me down this spiral.

Deborah writes that Phoebe's mother, Padma, is Indian. But where in India is she from? Which language does she speak? Which religion is she or does she partake in wedding traditions??

Moreover, not being Indian, I'm not trying to misrepresent a diverse and colourful culture.

Even in the show, she is black and yet, we get to know even less about her. Do you know how complex black British culture is??

One the few things we have in common is that we all hate East London (jk, but I do have beef with the east). But aside from that, the diaspora is different in so many ways.

Even if you are raised in the traditional manner Phoebe was raised in, you don't escape your mother's culture.

All we get is that she supports Phoebe turning, given that she too left home to marry Edward. That's that.

I would have loved to see that conversation between Phoebe and Padma in Time's Convert. A contrast between Miriam and Padma. A detailing into her mum's mindset, the similarities between the two, aside from looks!

If I'm correct in the assumption that Stella is Phoebe's elder half sibling, fully explore that tension! I wanted to see the first time Marcus met the Taylors.

Anyway, I still like Time's Convert, I just love women of colour having depth in media.

Well it's not a Marcus x Phoebe request but it's a Phoebe request. Phoebe & Matthew : after she mates with Marcus, Matthew gives her a de Clermont signet ring. But it's a personalized one that shows her acceptance in her new family but still accentuates the importance of her past/her roots.

I love this! Decided to use the book description of Phoebe for this!

"Yes?" Phoebe smiled from where she was looking out at the garden. She could sense Matthew.

"You're very good at that." He complimented, coming to stand next to her.

"Miriam's most important lesson. Always know when a man is trying to sneak up on you," Phoebe said, "Especially a de Clermont."

"I have a gift for you." Matthew announced

"Oh, yes. I saw the desks. Thank you so much," Phoebe replied, referring to the desks in her and Marcus' studies. They were beautiful and in good condition.

Matthew shook "No, something else. As you know members of the family have signet rings once accepted into the family and we'll, I thought as my daughter in law, you should have one. I do not know if Miriam has given you anything in this manner." He handed her a small velvet box from his trouser pocket.

Miriam had given her a lot of jewelry, as had Jason to help present her as Miriam's daughter. She adored them all but there was something touching about the stoic vampire in front of her doing this for her.

It was similar to Marcus' yet smaller like Ysabeau's. Gold, not silver, and a uroubos inscribed on the face.

"I believed gold would be better as Miriam wears a lot of gold as does your human mother. " Matthew explained.

But Phoebe gasped noticing the tiny inscription, only possible to see if you were a vampire on the band.

"It's Hindi. How did you-?" She didn't realize he paid that much attention to her. Miriam had been sure to keep both her and Padma's heritage as important parts of her transformation. Not just her English and now French family.

"I may have asked Marcus to ask Padma, who was very helpful. I was in India a long time ago but not long enough to learn as much as I should-"

Phoebe hugs him. She couldn't help it. She knew he wasn't a hugger, especially given the way he had frozen under her embrace. Matthew quickly tapped her back and smiled.

"Thank you. Thank you so much," Phoebe smiled, sliding it onto her right first finger, a similar manner to how Miriam wore her ring with the biggest stone.

Hope you are good! Realise this may be a bit depressing and sad but could You write about Phoebe and Marcus attending Padma’s funeral (assuming Edward died previously) -thx!

I do specialise in angst.

Phoebe always knew her mother would die. it was inevitable. Humans died and withered away whilst vampires remained ageless.

It didn't mean it hurt any less.

Marcus was by her side, as he always was. He had loved Padma as a another mother. She welcomed the man with open arms, and loved him. Miriam and Jason came too. Miriam and Padma had become close, which was unusual for vampire and human parents. But they both loved their daughter and Miriam had been supporting Padma after Edward died, knowing all too well how it was to lose the love of her life.

"My mum was always the kindest, funniest soul I knew." Phoebe said at the wake, "She taught me so much. But most of all, she taught me how to love. What it is to love. She met my dad and left India, and her family to start again in England, knowing it would be hard and difficult. But she did so because she wanted me to have a chance and because she loved my dad..."

Her voice wavered, as she looked at the wedding picture of her parents. A young Edward gazing adoringly at his wife.

"I am glad that she is finally with Dad, together as they should be. She's probably reminding him that it's his turn to do the bins. It doesn't matter that he works for the Crown," Phoebe said a smile on her face.
