A friend of mine follows many gods from germanic and Norse pantheons, and he was curious why I didn’t reference gods all that often. I told him that while I honored the gods that my Kindred follow, I’m a bit more animist in nature. I follow primarily the spirit of the Moon and then Sol, and then the Stars and Winds, Storms, etc. (What I didn’t tell him is how I count my Kindred among my gods in a way) This sparked a few questions about America’s native deities. and if you can answer any of them, that would help me so much. Even pointing me to research I can do on my own also. It’s harder to do accurate rituals when you’re unsure who your invoking, and I am more able to “spread my wings” as it were. Thank you for your attention! My questions are essentially Who are these native deities? Are they location-specific? Are they gods or spirits? What do we call them, or what would be the bet way to invoke them? Is there a way to honor them without insulting them by being the wrong lineage (Since I know some gods are exclusive like that) Or would they not care?
