Paging Mr. Darcy - 2024 - Hallmark
The plot: Dr. Eloise Cavendish specializes in Jane Austen. She's the keynote speaker at an Austen conference. Sam Lee is playing Darcy and mingling with the guest & his entire Darcy persona irritates Eloise, she's so rude to him.
It's a stretch that she likes Austen and hates the manners of the period. She's so rude that it's actually sad. Her distain is obvious and yet she gets away with it. She only comes around when a job she wants is in jeopardy. If I was Sam I'd have left her alone & hooked up with a nicer lady. I did watch to the very end and it was a waste of time. I didn't like nor believe her transformation and the romantic ending fell flat because I knew it was all about the new job.
I couldn't in good faith recommend this movie and certainly to an ardent Austen fan.
