Why name my #polarbear #streetpiano Ursa Major? Each year I ask the community to help me name my creations, why? It helps foster a sense of community and brings people together, after all it's a public art installation. This year Tony Chatterjee, or #Grafton, #Ontario sent me the winning entry: URSA MAJOR. Firstly it means "the great bear", secondly it is the star constellation that points to the true North Star supporting the #canada150 theme of "true north strong and free", and lastly the word "major" is a common musical term for a type of music cord. From the moment Tony shared his idea with me on the street, while finishing painting her, I knew it was the perfect fit.
