I'm painting paint!!
PAINTCEPTION
George-Daniel de Monfreid - Conversation dans l'atelier à Corneilla-de-Conflent
The artist was good friends with Paul Gauguin. Two of Gauguin’s works can be seen in this work, Tehamana Has Many Parents or The Ancestors of Tehamana (1893) and Le cheval blanc (1898).
Girl In An Interior by Carl Holsøe, c.1900
Frank Waller - Interior View of the Metropolitan Museum of Art when in Fourteenth Street, 1881
Also, a detail from the painting which apparently shows the Mona Lisa (or a version of it)
earlier this year in january, i posted a #FB story about how a mom named cindi decker was coined the “internet mom” on reddit because of an #egret bird she painted. she was essentially the inspiration that started this whole “paintception” craze a while back. u can read about this on bbc: https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-46957496
on few occasions the internet can actually do good to support each other. my coverage about the mrs. decker’s paintception phenomena went viral on FB. the story was shared over 250K times (as of few days ago). several artists from the original chain had reached out. the moment that really uplifted me was when the ORIGINAL egret mom, mrs. decker herself connected with me. she appreciated the fact that ive made this story went viral on FB. we communicated on couple occasions online and realized that we both lived in #florida.
other FB users have also inquired about these paintings and artists. as a supporter of local, aspiring, and/or young talents. i just wanted to make sure they can be reached by potential buyers.
one of these inquirers was jeremy who lives in boston. he was a recent graduate who came across my post. he wanted to surprise his girlfriend with one of the pieces from this story, and asked me if i knew any of the artists...he mentioned that my FB post was something that they talked about and he thought it would be super cool to own one of the artworks from this story. i gave him couple #artists info so he can contact them.
couple weeks went by i decided to follow-up with jeremy and see if he’d purchased any of the artwork from the chain. unfortunately the art that he wanted was a bit out of his budget. but he really wanted to surprise his girlfriend with this special gift. i was moved by his intention, so i told jeremy: “i can paint something for you if you like. im not a good painter but i can try to paint you something”
so today jeremy and i met for the first time in boston after months of communication. i personally gifted him the piece i made. it was a rough portrait of him and several artists including the mom, and the egret of course. he invited me to his home for dinner, and surprised his friends.
lots of people made visual art based on one woman's painting - i wrote a poem about the lot of them - napowrimo 2019 Day 1
Paintception
eyes watered viewing painting after painting
after painting
then sketch
then tablet-made masterpiece
a son encouraging his mother as source
strangers humble bragging their brush stroke skills
it moved me
it moves me still
a bevy immortalized
a wedge flying the skies of this web with never ending weave
and me
months later left with the impression to add to
like that giant ball of foil Pee Wee rolled out every Saturday
i just had to
do my part
my art
is the task to create a cygnet with words?
no
this is
stand and offer seat
yield at rush hour
go ahead you only have 3 things and i have 30
this is card with encouraging words in the mail
your order was paid for by the person who just left
this is
you get a car
you get a car
you get a car
this is
giving that which naturally flows
it shows
there is hope for us yet
When you already watched all this swan painting take over your Reddit feed and now it's on your dash but you know people who are experiencing it for the first time are genuinely enjoying it and don't want to be a dick even if you don't know what to put in your blacklist to not see it
