Sims 4 Build: Voroneț Monastery Exterior
I built this right after the release of Life & Death in late Nov./Dec. 2024. One of the official builders for that pack mentioned the famous painted monasteries of Romania in a video, which I had never heard of.
When I looked up the painted monasteries (which are very cool, btw!) I really wanted to see if there was a way I could replicate one in the Sims 4. Here is a picture of the Church of Saint George at Voronet Monastery:
Voronet Monastery is one of the painted monasteries of Moldavia and is located in Suceava County, Romania. It is a(n) UNESCO World Heritage site. The monastery was founded in 1488 by Stephen the Great. The central building is the church dedicated to Saint George. This building is the most famous part of the monastery; the outer walls are covered in vivid, detailed frescos. The frescos were commissioned by Bishop Grigorie Roșca in 1547. The impact of passing centuries has resulted in significant fading/wear on the frescos on parts of the church:

When I realized that the tiles from the Jungle Adventure pack had a series of fading swatches, I decided I would try to replicate this uneven fading on my build.

Most of the reference images I used for this build I found through google images. A lot of them come from tourism sites and personal travel blogs which I always find a lot of fun to look through. I would love to be able to visit this one day.
I built this on the Crow's Perch (30x30) lot in Ravenwood. There are a few windows on the real building that I could not include due to restrictions with round walls. The buttresses on either side of the alter section should also be painted, but I could not figure out how to accomplish that without ruining the overall proportions of the building.
I'm really proud of how this build turned out. I built this before I started using mods or CC in my game. I didn't even know you could download custom art off the gallery at this point in time.
(the amount of images i looked at to try and make the pavement/landscaping as accurate as possible was probably equal to all the other images i used for this build, lol)
