Day four from Katy Lipscomb's Smaugust prompt list was paper, and so I came up with this critter.
I was inspired by paper dragons in Dungeons and Dragons, where they essentially can absorb spell scrolls and use the powers once. Those dragons feed off of the magic in the scrolls. I leaned into the idea where it's a living amalgamation of books, paper and spells collected over time. Definitely a creature possessing a fair bit of knowledge to say the least.
I thought for the design I'd go with paper scrolls, stacks and shapes all jutting out in varying directions, as well as large paper sheets for the wings. This one is done in watercolors in only two colors.
