hana’s positivity and optimistic personality started diminishing as soon as he kissed her goodbye. she understood why, but she hated how she had to wait so long, and how she wouldn’t know about his safety. that’s what mattered to her the most. days kept passing where she felt like she had no purpose, the pain she felt every time he crossed her mind had her in tears, it turned her into an unstable mess. seeing him leave was equivalent to a part of her heart being ripped out, she was sure of it. everything was, simply put, a disaster. she was behind on her marking, could barely find the motivation to get out of bed, made constant mistakes while teaching, and just slept as soon as she got home. even though christian promised that he’d be back, she didn’t know for sure. she didn’t know exactly what he did when he had to go away, but every time he talked about it, it seemed so dangerous and always had her beyond worried. this was a promise that she prayed he would keep. if hana lost him forever, she would lose herself, too.
who would be knocking on her door that late at night? it had to be him. before she even opened the door, hana broke down in tears at the mere thought of him coming back home safely, back to her safely. she ran as fast as she could to the door, and there he was. she couldn’t believe it. after months, he was finally back. hana was so choked up in the moment that she couldn’t say anything, only able to show how she felt with actions. wrapping her arms as tightly around him as she could, she sobbed as she buried her head in his chest, the familiarity of it only bringing her so much more comfort. “i missed you.” the weight on her shoulders lifted as the words she wanted to tell him in person finally made their way out between her cries. hana pulled away from the hug to get a good look at him, to see if anything changed. “i can’t believe you’re back.”
