DIY Painted Lanterns + Family Photos = Instant Wedding Magic
Want a table centerpiece that’s personal, pretty, and full of heart? Turn simple lanterns into memory-filled keepsakes with just a little paint and a few favorite photos. It’s DIY that actually means something — and looks gorgeous doing it.
🪄 How to Make Them:
Step 1: Tape it up. Cover the glass panes of your lantern with painter’s tape to protect them while you paint.
Step 2: Prime + Paint. Spray on a smooth coat of primer (we used Krylon Colormaxx primer), then brush on your favorite color with a ½-inch angled brush. We went with Mantis Green by Benjamin Moore — soft, minty, and perfect for spring weddings. Let it dry, then peel off the tape.
Step 3: Add the memories. Measure the glass panes and print your family photos to fit. For a clean, cohesive look, go all black-and-white — it’s timeless and elegant.
Step 4: Light it up. Use transparent tape to secure the photos inside the lantern. Drop in a flameless candle, and boom — instant glow, instant nostalgia.
These lanterns look stunning on guest tables, memory displays, or even the cake table. They’re sweet, sentimental, and totally customizable — just like your love story.
P.S. You can find tons of lantern styles on Amazon — white, black, gold, even rustic wood — ready to paint and personalize.
