This is a drabble for @destoriathefirst because we were talking about Lucifer and Michael and I have no control over what my brain does with fictional characters.
Michael’s Here 681 words. No season 4 spoilers. Michael shows up at the precinct. It’s funny?
Maze ended up tracking him to the precinct of all places, and Lucifer felt as if his heart had stuttered. Chloe was working right now, was probably inside. While he didn’t know his brother’s plan, it was probably nothing good.
“That bastard,” Maze sneered, taking long strides toward the entrance.
“Halt,” Lucifer ordered, raising a hand. Despite him no longer being her master, eons spent in Hell had the demon stopping in her tracks on instinct. “You are not to engage, Mazikeen. Not only would he destroy you, but a confrontation here would put the lives of all the humans at risk.”
They both knew which human he was worrying about in particular. So they entered the station quietly, barely acknowledging any of the officers and personnel who greeted them. Soon enough they reached the bullpen, and the Detective waved them to her desk as soon as she noticed their arrival.
“Lucifer,” she whispered, looking more than a little unsettled, “you never told me you had a twin. And that your twin was Michael. Like Michael Michael from the bible Michael.”
“It never came up. The fact that we share a face is an injustice I prefer not to dwell on. Where is the prick anyway?” he asked, trying to appear casual. No need to upset her if it could be avoided.
“Uh… he was just here. He said he was waiting for you… what’s going on?” Chloe was right to be worried, and Lucifer truly wished he could offer her comfort, but-.
“Nothing good,” Maze muttered, eyes roaming around. With so many glass walls it should have been simple to pinpoint his brother’s location.
“Now how would you know, demon?”
They turned in unison to see Michael sitting casually on top of the currently empty desk across from the Detective’s. Before anyone had a chance to speak, Daniel walked up - noticing his twin before anyone else.
“Uh… Lucifer?” he questioned, eying the man up and down.
“Decidedly not!” Lucifer complained immediately, outraged. Detective Douche’s triple take didn’t quite make up for the fact that he had mistaken him to begin with. As if he would ever grow his hair to his shoulders, or dress anything less than impeccably. “Gladiator shoes, really? And are you wearing a drug rug? Even Amenadiel has better fashion sense than that!”
“Dude, you’re a twin?!” Daniel stared at him before his gaze seemed to be unwillingly pulled back to his brother.
“It happens to you humans as well, I don’t see what all the fuss is about. That you could confuse us, though, really! Michael looks like a homeless whelp who wandered in from Burning Man after being mugged. Has no one introduced you to a comb?” he asked his brother, who was just watching him with an annoyingly smug grin and a raised eyebrow.
Just as he was starting to calm down (the douche seemed to be suitably chastised) Miss Lopez walked out of her lab and immediately paused. At least she seemed to be assessing the situation… then again…
“Oh my God! Lucifer! You’re a twin!” she squealed before joining everyone. They were beginning to cause quite the scene, actually, even though no one had actually done anything yet.
“Yes, DO blame Dad,” he huffed, “as I refuse to believe he could not have created us with our own faces.”
“Stop being so dramatic, br-” Michael tried to speak.
“Nothing out of you, interloper! What made you think that you could come here of all places, threatening-”
“I have made no threats-”
“None of these humans have done anything worthy of the attention of the ‘Sword of God’, so I don’t-”
“I am not here to-”
“Then why are you here?!” Lucifer shouted the question and a hush fell over the bullpen.
“Perhaps we should talk in private? Away from your humans?” Michael suggested.
“Very well… though not because you suggested it. I had actually been thinking the same thing,” he straightened his cufflinks and turned around, ignoring everyone and expecting his brother to follow.
“Because you’re twins,” he heard Miss Lopez whisper.
