I'm still alive. Found some old pics from SF I never posted. Look for those over the next few days. Otherwise I'm not getting out much due to the corona so I'm not sure when I'll be back to my rambling, sign snapping ways.

The Palace Bar - 260 N Broadway Ave Burns Oregon, 1943
The Palace was an interesting place. The entrance was a small foyer. Just inside the entrance was a cigarette machine and two doors opened to each side. If you went right you entered the cafe. To the left was the bar.
My dad was a regular patron over the years. He told of sitting with a friend at this bar in 1956. His friend had just bought one of the first Ford Thunderbird's. Cherry red and beautiful. The county sheriff walked into the bar and asked who owned the Thunderbird at the curb. When dads friend responded that it was his the sheriff pulled out his ticket book and said, “I’m just gonna save some time and write you a ticket right now. That thing looks way to fast”.
