I am extremely grateful to capture snap shots of some wonderful landmarks that in my opinion hi light the beauty of New Orleans. I’d say literally 90% of what I’ve learned about restoring or repairing doors I’ve learned from @thisoldhouse • I came to the trades as a college student in need of a way to pay my way (I have three degrees...🤦🏻‍♂️). Later in life when I needed to transition from one vocation to another I came back to the trades and did my best to self educate through back issues of @finehomebuilding and YouTube. Skills gap indeed... • We’re coming to the final phase of work at the palace and I tackled this door today which was rotted out on the bottom. It had slats for venting, which is necessary. I made two face-frames with oak to sand which a section of woven stainless steel mesh from @mcnicholsco • From there I pretty much just followed the inimitable Tom Silva’s technique for a Dutchman.
