ART, NOT APART is on again this weekend March 16th... Down in the newly unveiled and hip suburb of New Acton is the many arts festival "Art, not apart" which aims to unite creatives of all areas into one uplifting community and welcome others to celebrate the young and fresh artistic talent in the inner city region. The event will be free to attend and will feature live music and cinema, apartment exhibitions, suitcase markets, performance art, pasteups and street art as well as an even greater emphasis on food and drink than last time.
I attended the last ANA festival in October and it was awesome. I took my camera along and was able to photograph such a diverse range of characters and artists all amongst what they do best. It was also brillant to see that there is such a high level of appreciation for these mostly young art grads who are actually quite active in the seemingly subdued scene here in Canberra. When you're there, make sure you check out the new Palace Cinema and Two Before Ten Cafe/Bar. Art Not Apart is a great event to meet like -minded people, increase your awareness of design in Canberra and also could be handy for self-promoting designers. For now, here is a brief video highlighting last years success... x
