THE LAST NIGHT
By the end of the conference it starts to rain.
Water totally takes me by surprise. After a week of no rain I had forgotten that around here rain is regular and intense (the ancient name of Palenque is actually “place of the Great Waters”). But maybe it will stop soon…
Soon after the sky is lit by an impressive series of thunders and lightnings, as if Hunab Ku was taking our picture: “There they are, those of Palenque 2012: cheeeeese!”
After dinner we go see what’s happening in Maya Bell. In a big meadow we can see some people around a big bonfire. It is the beginning of the night ceremony led by Don Marzo. We get closer and we listen to the invocations in Mayan dialect, while the sky keeps on taking our pictures. Don Marzo grabs the sacred stick and asks the sky for protection, in Spanish, and for “ropa seca, ropa limpia para la ceremonia de mañana”. I pray that the stick works and the sky will listen.
We go back to our room in Panchan and at about 1 am the rain starts to pour heavily. Very heavily. A full-on apocalypctic deluge has just started.
At 4:30 am we wake up and decide to meditate in our room. The rain is downpouring very loud, while inside of me I have to silence a very loud paranoia that the river (not sure which one) is overflooding. I connect with the center of the galaxy, I open to receive whatever it wishes to transmit me… and I connect with the thousands of people who are doing the same thing all over the world… and I smile… everything has happened as predicted… the belief has orchestrated its own self-fullfillment… in the next few years we shall see what this means…
