The future that never was.

In the early 1900s, the future of cities was depicted on postcards in a trend called Paleo-Future. One hundred years later, we are still dreaming of “smart cities,” with more or less the same fantastic designs. Talking of Tomorrow (1962)
It's all so fanciful and Jetsons-like. But then there are the random things that they got right that stick out, like teleconferencing from home offices, and "video-phone" shopping (well... internet shopping, right?), and those personal communicator phones (ours aren't wrist-mounted, but they're small enough that they could be, and they make it hypothetically possible for anyone to get ahold of anyone else at any time...). "Optical maser", because the word "laser" hadn't been coined yet. Fax machines (ha! -- already made obsolete by email).
Incidentally, the quaint racism of the short Japanese baseball player in Coke-bottle glasses, failing miserably against the American team. "Samurais"? Really? Hahaha.
