PALEOTREES REPORTING LIVE @ SXSW 2014

This year, I'm pleased to be reporting live from Austin, TX, for the South By Southwest music festival. Not only will I be acting as roving correspondent for Now This Sound Is Brave, I will be working as crew for several of my favorite acts. And I couldn't be more excited if I tried. 

Because the festival seems to have trouble creating an up-to-date and accessible schedule, I will post a list of set times for each artist, as well as a tentative schedule for my activities each day. Keep an eye on my Twitter feed if you're interested in a play-by-play account!

Welcome. You don't know me yet, so allow me to tell you: I'm a freelance music journalist who does a lot of behind-the-scenes side work in indie rock. When I was a kid I wanted to be either an investigative nonfiction writer or a neo-beatnik prose burnout, so now I'm both. Bands win me over when I like them as artists as much as I like their art. My hobbies include music, digital photography, nubby-sweater-collecting, and coffee-drinking. I love animals (esp. cats), tactile textile textures, and saturated colors. I travel around America quite often, sometimes don't comb my hair, and happen to think Solange is far superior to Beyonce. Though I can hang with the dudes like a champ, my favorite people are pretty much all women. I am also a full-time feminist culture critic and sexual-assault survivors' advocate, so you might not like me very often if at all, and I'm fine with that.

Stick around if you want, but don't stress yourself out.
