Vergil was pacing back and forth in his living room. He had checked Nero's location, which he had set up on a watch he had given him, even calling it and sending messages. Nothing. All of it was fruitless. Especially with his location being last updated hours ago. The biggest red flag for Vergil was that the last ping was in an area Nero would never have gone.
He reported it to the police, but they weren't doing much about it. They told him to stay home in case his son came back, but something just didn't seem right. And the longer it took to get anything from them, the more anxious he got. Luckily, he knew someone who could help.
He pulled out his phone again and called his long-time girlfriend. He continued to pace, but his speed had gotten faster and more animated. "Please, pick up. Pickuppickuppickup!" he muttered to himself as the phone rang.

Piers shook his head with an amused chuckle. He was sitting in a chair at the side of her hospital bed. He was leaning on it with his arms crossed. "I think I said the exact same thing after my accident," he said with a playful tone. His eyes still gave away how worried he was for her. They both worked dangerous jobs, so it was no surprise when they ended up injured or making enemies.
He took her hand with his real hand and brought it to his lips. "How are you feeling?" he asked.

High school reunion. Vergil didn't like the idea of going, but he was also curious to see where everyone ended up. Maybe even see how far his ex had come after she left them. It's also a chance to show off how great his life has become and all he has done for himself. No one thought he would make it. But here he was, his own cyber company, a well-taken-care-of son, and his own place to live.
When he got there, Nero immediately ran in when he saw the food table. Vergil tried to catch up, but the crowd closed in around them a bit, making it hard for him to get to him. Then he watched in horror as he full-on ran into a woman, knocking himself backward.
"Nero!" Vergil caught up with his son and knelt down, "You can just run off like that! What if you got lost?" Nero pouted with tears in his eyes as Vergil picked him up. "Come on. Apologize to..." When he looked at who his son had run into, he froze in place and blinked in surprise. "Paloma?"
