whoa really im size twelve that aint right who comes up with this stuff???
it's all so arbitary and shitty
and i almost feel like there's this concentrated effort to basically fuck with any lady over the size of medium in the popular 'tween/teen/young adult' stores lately. in my experience, the clothing lineup of all of those stores is 100000 size XS to size S, 5 size M, 2 size L, and maybe one XL size of one item in the whole fucking store
basically it's this "we don't want dumpy fat girls wearing our shit" thing; on top of that, it basically turns plus sized shopping into the fucking hunger games, scrambling for the one XL in the fucking store. the quarter quell is looking for the one 3X in the plus sized section, which is, of course, at the back of the store away from the normal people.
the metaphor sort of ran away from me, but you understand. it's this shrinking of women's fashion until eventually nobody but the models are going to be able to wear the fucking clothing. it's so fucking bullshit and wrong and frankly, god damn mean. denying a fat girl--or even a girl who just weighs over, say, 120 pounds, (which is "fat" in this day and fucking age), the right to one of the most basic ways of fitting in and enjoying time with friends--which is shopping together at the store and wearing the same clothing as your friends and peers--is fucking evil.
I don't say that lightly, or to sound pretentious. It is fucking cruel to deny teenage girls the right to look pretty when we're told that's all we're fucking good for. And one XL in the whole store does not count.
