J2 Main Panel at VanCon 2017

This time I will only make a panel post about the afternoon panel from Vancouver con, as most of what happened during the Gold panel has already been discussed and giffed, and there wasn't a whole lot that I got out of it. 

J2 seemed to be in great humour throughout the entire panel and I was not left cold while watching them joke around for an hour. 

(4:20) There’s some joking about Jared being high, but Jensen looks as though he’s high on Jared. Umm, I don’t blame him. At all.

(13:10) Dog!Dean clearly appeals to Jared.

(19:43) A fan asks a question about how J2 connect to their characters. Jared speaks of how him and Sam were both searching for themselves and had a hard time finding their places. He goes on to explain how difficult it is to be an actor when there’s always other people “a thousand times more talented than I am, a thousand times harder-working, a thousand times more attractive, taller, or builter.. maybe not taller” after which he looks at Jensen. He talks about how tough it is to sometimes believe in himself and to do justice to all the people who are working on Supernatural.

(22:28) Jensen is clearly affected by the answer and keeps looking at Jared with those concerned eyes. 

(22:30) Jared tries to make him laugh with a joke, but it doesn't really work.

I wonder if this falls under the category “stuff to talk more about back at home.”

(30:18) Jensen (to a fan): “I’m all yours.” Wooh, those words will make you sweat, especially if you happen to be Jared Padalecki, who has no doubt heard them said to him a few times in the past. ;)   

(58:05) Ooh la la! How about some intimate lower-back touching? I love Jensen’s face after Jared shoos him away - he looks as though he just did something naughty and just doesn't care that he got caught. Speaking of idgaf...

(59:21) What a way to end a panel! 

All in all, this was highly enjoyable panel with a decent amount of show talk. Both of the lads were clearly in good spirits and the jokes flew out of them with ease. 

Other memorable moments:

(7:40) A fan asks about which female characters on the show they would like to play. Jensen’s answer and Jared’s reaction are more than a little suspicious. (gifset)

(12:00) Jensen talks about Baby (the episode) and Jared thinks the fans just like to hear him repeating the word. Doesn't look like he minds it that much himself. (gifset)

(13:21) A fan wants Jensen and Misha to be in a romantic comedy. I wonder what Jensen would’ve said if Jared hadn’t made a joke out of it (look at his face!) (gifset)

(16:45) Jared re-tells the story of how he came to insult a waiter in Italy by an accident. It’s already been established that this happened with Jensen, not with G, but he tells the official version. (gifset)

(31:54) A fan inquires about where the samulet is kept. J2 make a buttplug joke about it that lasts for minutes. (gifset)

J2 Panels at ChiCon 2017

It’s time to take a look at what happened at the Chicago convention - the first one after the guys started filming season 13.

Gold panel

The guys seemed to be in an awfully talkative mood even though it was early(ish) in the morning. The penis tweet was explained and pinned on Misha. ;) Half of the panel was spent telling stories and just chatting with the fans! I could just watch them talk forever.

(4:50) Oh Jared, still having a hard time getting the straw under control?

(9:40) I’m not exactly sure what I’m hearing here. “Of course you don’t, you don’t remember what time (we/you) went to bed last night”? Make your own call on this one.

(12:40) Talking about Baby (the episode) and Jared being silly resonates with Jensen. I feel you, brother.

Other noteworthy moments from the Gold panel:

(5:40) Jared misheard a fan saying San Jac as Sam Jack (gifset)

(6:25) J2 celebrate kids-free time. Jensen: “Party time!” Jared: *does a little dance* “No Gen, so..”

(7:15) Jensen says they left the restaurant together at 11 PM.

Main panel

The main panel went much in the same vein as the morning panel. The penis tweet kept coming up as a topic of conversation, as did the Baby episode from season 11. They really must love that episode as much as I do.

(7:05) Jensen loves his silly man so much, I don’t know how it could be any clearer.

(22:39) Random heart eyes with an added bonus of touching. You would think an annoying question like that would sour their moods, but nope. Not much, anyway.

(46:50) BOOM! I must agree with (the super delighted) Jensen here. I wonder if Jared even knows what a pie looks like... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

(49:18) Focus, Jensen, you’re supposed to be thinking about Jared’s annoying habits!

(56:08) Jared is like “Let me demonstrate how this fan didn’t notice Jensen by rubbing myself against him on stage!”

Not that he minds...

Other noteworthy moments from the main panel:

(6:40) Jensen is awfully sure that Jared’s boys don’t watch The Power Rangers. How would you know this?

(17:40) Jensen reveals that some of the cutest moments from Baby were unscripted and actually just him and Jared being themselves.

(24:15) Jensen seems to have some beef with Jared’s shirtless scene as soulless!Sam. Possessive, much? (gifset)

These panels were awfully funny in my opinion! The lads seemed cheerful and there was no shortage of heart eyes and dirty jokes. The ongoing theme seemed to be bickering like a married couple (that they essentially are) and there was only a small amount of verbal bearding in both of the panels. This was a very enjoyable convention in my opinion!

J2 Main Panel at PhxCon 2017

Here’s a little lookover of what happened on the main panel at Phoenix con, precious headgear firmly in place.

It was a really hot day at Phoenix and our favourites were dressed in one layer. Both of them had chosen a black button-down shirt and they offered an explanation at the 9:37 marker. (More on this)

(8:15) The panel is kicked off with a cute example of what it looks like when you’re in perfect sync with another person.

(11:53) Jensen admitting to Jared playing “the original Dean” leads to some classic fangirling. Oh boy, you’re so gay!

(15:21) Sam Fucking Winchester with killer heart-eyes.

(18:20) Jensen compares the wives’ relationship with the J’s own. Jared seems understandably a little confused and thrown off.

(18:32) Any excuse to touch will do. Talking about bras? Jared will show you a bra. Well, if you’re Jensen Ackles, that is!

(27:57) Jensen imitates licking a lollipop with a coarse tongue and Jared seems a little blushy. I would sell my kidney to see Jensen’s face as he’s looking at his boy!

(37:40) A little slip there - that singular family that’s talked about so often. What’s that, Jared? You, Jensen and the kiddos?

(42:25) Random heart eyes.

In conclusion, I would say that this panel was not quite as entertaining as some of the previous ones have been this year. It certainly had good moments and watching the J’s interact is always fun, but most of the questions were disappointing and often repeated. Here’s a list of other timetags worth checking out:

J2 Gold Panel at SeaCon 2017

Whoa whoa whoa. Whoever said that the tinhats would be having a field day wasn’t wrong. Good people of Hattyville, hold onto your precious headgear!

Let’s get straight down to business. At 0:50 mark onwards, a certain tall man gets his hands on another tall man, proclaiming his softness and declaring it to be just an excuse to touch him. Do you really need an excuse, Jared? (gifset)

At 10:36, a fan asks why they ended up not partnering up for the brewery business and Jared explains that the Texas laws prevent a barowner from owning or investing in a brewery. I think this has been explained before, but it’s good to know there’s an actual reason for this.

(13:06) Jensen launches into a story about hating green beans when he was little. Jared apparently finds this adorable, considering his heart-eyes were on display through most of the story. (Aww, poor little Jen :( )

(15:16) Talking about a juice cleanse and what a bad idea it was. I’m just gonna go ahead and say that little things like this are so very couple. Going on a juice cleanse together, aww!

(16:51) A fan asks J2 how did they come up with the hand thing to get rid of Hallucifer. Jared said that in the last few weeks he had been feeling a little handsy. It amused the audience and dare I say that the target of said handsiness was hinted at.

Blink and you’ll miss it - double heart eyes at the 19:20 marker.

(21:39) Jensen is asked if he’s going to direct again. Jared whines about it, but ends up admitting he loves it. Nothing to be embarrassed about! Meanwhile Jensen jokes about seeing how many days he can “get Jared off” - you know, totally meaning that he gets to be without Jared. That’s totally all there is.

(29:25) It seems as though Jared’s imitation of Jensen doesn’t really bother the man in the least. Instead, perhaps the view is even pleasant to observe!

(30:35) Need I add anything to this? They fanboy Mark Pellegrino in a very singular trailer. You know, their trailer. As in one trailer. As in their one trailer. As in the one trailer they use.

Overall, I thought this panel was a joy to view! I’m not sure I’ve ever before used three whole hours making gifs for a 30 minute panel, but there you have it. A tinhat field day - this is what it’s like.

Hello! I really like your blog, you are always very thoughtfully and thoroughly answer the questions, thank you very much. Please tell me how you feel about the behavior of Jensen on his joint with Misha panel on JIB8? His behavior killed me. For me the trick with Collins, that he took off his pants in front of him, completely devalued his hugs with Jared. He was drunk in both cases. It turns out that all this is just fan service?

Anon 3: Idk how I feel about Jensen attitude in the panel with M, like he forced it somehow. And it feels like he doesn’t care of what M was saying. What do you think?

Hello, all of you lovely people!

I finally had the time to watch the panel and oh boy, I must say I feel a little surprised by Jensen’s behaviour. He was obviously very drunk and a little disrespectful towards Misha. I kind of detected the same vibe from the Jared/Misha panel as well, just not quite as strongly.

I didn’t think much of the underwear moment, not especially now that I read this theory that explains so much. So, Jensen gets a pair of boxers with a bear pictured on them - that’s so obviously a joke directed at Jared’s fear of bears. Can you imagine the giggles the J’s must’ve had over the article of clothing? Anyway, it’s unclear whether or not Misha understood the joke, but he was clearly uncomfortable with this turn of events. Had Jensen been less drunk, I doubt he would’ve done this, but I guess we were witnessing a wild Nesnej.

For my own amusement, I kept a count of how many times Jensen mentioned Jared. Four. That’s not bad for a 30 minute panel, don’t you think? He even said Jared “has been a fairy all day.” Oops, did you mean “all his life”?

It turns out that all this is just fan service? 

I think it was largely a drunken “it seemed like a good idea at the time” case, but also fanservice. I wonder if he woke up the next morning, vaguely recalling what he had done and buried his head in Jared’s armpit with a groan? He doesn’t always board the d*stiel train as we see in this very panel - when a fan asks a question that’s clearly suggesting d*stiel and Misha answers “When in Rome..”, Jensen just aims a long and judging look at him.

I don’t feel the same way at all. If this was a deliberate bait to the c*ckles shippers, it only goes to show that there’s something that’s happened that created the need to distract the fans away from. Jared did the very same thing in his panel with Misha - the crotch sniff!

And with the kind of convention this was, you can just take your pick. So many lovely and coupley things happened between the J’s that I personally don’t wonder why they felt the need to show how “very friendly” they can be with others too. “Look here, we do this kinda stuff all the time with our buddies!” If anything, behaviour like this from the J’s only goes to highlight all the loving moments between them. Maybe that’s just me.

I can’t really present a strong opinion on this. I’ve heard she ships d*stiel, but I haven’t looked into her social media aside from the convention stuff. She did, however, provide Jensen and Misha with some alcoholic beverages during their panel. Wasn’t Jensen drunk enough already? I must admit that the gesture made me think there may be some truth to this. I’ll refrain from making a proper statement because I haven’t got enough information to form a solid opinion on.

It really looked like that to me, especially at the beginning. He kept interrupting Misha and his attitude seemed somewhat arrogant. We all know what a lovely man Jensen is, though, so perhaps this is how he can get when he’s drunk. I’m not sure whether or not his animosity was directed at Misha or whether the man just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but there’s a pattern with these panels - Jensen seems to prefer to be intoxicated when he’s sharing a stage with Misha. I know a lot of people theorize that Jensen dislikes Misha a lot, but I don’t think it’s quite that simple.

Anyway, I’m gonna close this monsterous response up with the panel video with a some added timetags for all of you who are reluctant to watch the whole thing.

(16:45) They tell the YANA story that moved Jensen

(26:33) The d*stiel question, followed by Misha’s comment “When in Rome” and Jensen’s long oh-no-you-didn’t -stare

(28:05) In relation to the same question, Jensen says “Well, I know where I’m going” - I’m perhaps not entirely objective here, but is he thinking of Jared? 

After the cast joins at the 30:10 marker, Jensen and Jared largely take over the dialogue as they thank the fans and Daniela for the convention. Jensen talks about a memorable thing that happened to him on Twitter at the 30:46 marker and Jared knows all about the story. There’s also a little buttslap at the end (35:17) from Jared to Jensen. “Good job, baby”?

I am so sorry this turned out so long. I guess I can shorten it all down to one sentence - “I’m not alarmed by any of this.” When you see Jared or Jensen on stage with other people, things seem to spiral out of hand very quickly. The balance suffers, one might say. On the other hand, these panels are lacking most of those knowing looks and wordless communication that we’re used to hearing from the J’s. I hope my response is sufficient to all of you sweet folks! Have a wonderful weekend!

J2 Main Panel at SeaCon 2017

And the funtimes resume! Many interesting things happened on this panel and I’m going to go over a few of them, tinhat firmly in place, needless to say.

(6:40) A fan has a question for Jared, but she says she loves Jensen too. What’s up, Jared? Feeling betrayed by your fan or are you the only one allowed to love him?

Little did he know that the question would be about which conditioner he uses. This leads to adorable bickering between the J’s that is fun to witness.

(9:30) The chest thing. Jensen graciously receives the grabby hand.

(13:20) I love it when they fanboy each other! Jared sure as hell didn’t hold back on his admiration for Jensen. Any excuse to touch him, and he’d take it. Go right ahead, Jared, I assure you I’m not judging you.

(35:21) Talking about Disney movies which leads to Jensen quoting an Aladdin song to Jared: “Princess, when did you last let your heart decide?” Whoa whoa whoa, is there a serious question buried there? (psst, look at the lyrics)

(39:30) Singing a song from Young Frankenstein together and being so cute. Pay attention to Jared heart-eyeing the hell out of Jensen’s singing. Also, you need to see this movie - it’s hilarious!

(41:50) Jared’s dance moves impress and amuse Jensen, if his face is anything to go by. Me too, Jensen!

(43:10) ... and Jensen’s moves seem to have the same effect on Jared as well.

(43:44) Oh no! The dance party has drawn their chairs too far apart. Luckily, that is easy to solve.

(49:00) Random heart eyes to increase your lifeforce.

(57:35) Oi, oi, oi! Don’t go fangirling Jared’s man too much! Jensen is explaining about his trip to Dallas with JJ and a fan lets out a scream.

Overall, there was a lot of fun jokes, but also some “real” moments to chew on, but I tend to leave those out of my panel overviews. The dancing and the “scary just got sexy” things cracked me up, as did their talk about Young Frankenstein. I bet we will have a lot to talk about before the next convention rolls in.

J2 Gold Panel at NashCon 2017

It’s time to take a look at the morning panel from Nashville, my tinhat firmly in place.

This panel was a lot of fun. Jared seemed extra silly and hyper and Jensen appeared to be in good spirits as well. There were some really noteworthy moments - here are a few of them I spotted!

(0:40) Jared suggests he wasn’t present at SNS, although some claimed he was. I wonder what the truth is? And if he was really there, why hide it? Perhaps the fans would be disappointed to know he was around, but hiding from the audience.

(0:55) Okay, I’m awake. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

(4:09) Jared breaks out with the Richard Marx again, playing “Right Here Waiting” while Jensen responds to a question...

(4:23) ... and seems to be a little embarrassed by his romantic gesture.

(13:37) Jared didn’t hear the fan’s question due to providing her with background music, so he asks Jensen what she said. Is this a married couple thing? I think it’s a married couple thing.

(20:02) A fan asks which movie Jared and Jensen would like to place their families in (what?) and a fan tries to help Jensen with yelling “Ten Inch Hero.” Jared reacts with “Whoa, take it easy!” Protective, much? ;)

(29:58) Jensen has died and Jared soothingly slaps his... butt? Side? Crotch? I demand a better angle for this!

(29:59) Mm-m, mm-m, mmmm... Ooh la la, Jared! That just got real dirty real fast. Carry on with your wicked ways, sir!

(30:40) Jared has just faced a very emotional fan with a serious question about how to become happy and Jensen is ready with some water. It quickly turns into a joke about Jared not being able to catch bottles, but the sentiment is not lost on me (nor Jared, if I can read him right)

(31:16) Jared tells the fan how he cheers up on a bad day. Do I need to analyze this? You’re seeing this, right?

(31:35) Jensen can’t resist offering comfort to his boy. Of course they make it into a joke, but the sentiment doesn’t go anywhere. Aside the obvious, I think this is Jensen’s subtle way of showing that Jared has a hard time talking about these things. Notice how Jared leans into his hand slightly before putting up the front?

(33:18) Is this an “I’m okay, baby” butt slap? Jensen ends the panel very quickly after Jared has dealt with the question, marching off. If I may guess, he got angry with how once again someone put his boy in a tight spot and used him like a therapist. This has to end, people. Conventions should be fun for Jared as well!

Overall, I thought the panel was extremely enjoyable. The lads seemed to have a good time before the unfortunate anti-climax at the end. Some other interesting points in the panel:

(21:56) Jared praises Jensen’s performance as Dean.

(25:50) Jared jokingly celebrates the moment where he gets to kill his wife in season 4.

(32:15) Jensen corrects that Jared wasn’t listening to Hendrix at his one-man dance party, but Britney. (Were you there, Jensen, or just teasing?)

J2 Main Panel at NashCon 2017

Oh boy, I don’t think my notes have ever been this long on just one panel alone. Needless to say, my tinhat was firmly in place while watching this and I probably couldn’t remove it even if I tried. Let’s get on with the program!

From what I heard, the boys started the panel about 40 minutes late. That’s a little unusual, isn’t it? Let’s see if we can try to figure that one out, shall we?

(8:21) Protective Jensen strikes! A fan wants Jared to take off his beanie and Jensen stands up for his boy right away.

(13:58) Jared spots a hair on Jensen’s stubble and it turns out to be his... How on Earth could that happen? Was his head there?

Jared: “Let’s not delve into that...” Guys, it’s too late, I’m delving like a madman here! Seriously though, how did that happen? You probably should’ve explained it, because I know for a fact that I’m not the only one drawing conclusions here. ;)

(17:33) Spider webs are apparently found and Jared wonders about that. Jensen grins and asks Jared if he really has to explain it, which drives Jared into blush mode. Hmm, what’s this, guys?

A couple of explanations as offered by the Urban Dictionary. So, uhh, someone blew a load and now Jared’s blushing and the panel is 40 minutes late? Okay okay, let’s all take some deep breaths before jumping to conclusions.

(18:09) A fan asks Jensen what Dean would be doing if Mary hadn’t died. Jensen thinks Dean would still be hunting, but girls instead of monsters. Oh Jared, honey, he said “Dean” and not “Jensen.” I’m sure you have no worries of your man chasing skirts!

(20:59) Jared is having so much fun with the freezing background video and the text and Jensen clearly finds it adorable. Me too, Jensen, me too.

(26:35) This is not erotic at all. Let’s move along quickly.

(27:55) Jensen’s full-body sneeze not only looks like it amuses Jared, he’s kinda starry-eyed by the display as well.

The entire panel was a truckload of fun and the guys seemed very giddy and all-around adorable. It was definitely one of the nicest panels I’ve seen in my tinhatting days. The absence of het questions and voluntary wife mentions (1 per each) was thrilling, as was the amount of show and craft related questions.

It’s hard to believe they supposedly had some difficulties with their fan-encounters between the panels - I read on different sources how the issue of depression was repeatedly brought up to Jared. Give them a break, please.

There were many other moments as well, some of which I’ll list below:

At 12:45, Jared looks fleetingly disappointed with how Jensen moved his chair a tiny bit further apart.

At 23:30, a fan asks what they’re obsessed with. Jared responds for both of them, saying they’re crazy about music.

At 28:08, the chair issue is stealthily fixed. Yay!

At 43~ ish mark, Jared starts doing accents. This continues for many minutes and ends with yet another wife story getting exposed as fake. (49:28) Look at this wonderful post!
