Happy Labor Day!

I hope everybody is enjoying the long weekend. I was able to get in a nice, relaxing 60 mile ride on Saturday. That's right, 60 miles, relaxing ;-)

I often forget that for most people that's a long ride ;-)

It has been almost a month since the Pan-Mass Challenge and I have made some incremental progress on my fund raising goal of $10,000.

I had some help when friends of ours help a PMC/Jimmy Fund fund raiser on the Cape on my behalf. They set up a Lemonade/Cotton Candy stand in West Dennis and raised $202!

Everyone reading this email has donated in the past. There is still time to make a donation for the 2019 Pan-Mass Challenge ride. Your money makes a big difference at Dana-Farber. It allows Dana-Farber to conduct research on cancers that would otherwise go unfunded.

Roughly 60 Days until the Pan-Mass Challenge...

It’s June! Nice Weather, 60 Days, $70K, and More Reasons to Ride...

We finally got some good weather this past Memorial Day Weekend and I was able to log just over 90 miles of riding. There are only about 60 days until the 2019 Pan-Mass Challenge and it is time to get going on the training.

Part of that training includes remembering how to change a flat tire in under 10 minutes...  ;-)

Over the years I have heard many stories of people battling cancer. Some have survived while others were taken too soon. Each and every year it seems to get more personal. The same holds true for this year.

On April 20th, I lost my Uncle to a Brain Tumor. He was a good man an I always looked up to him. My cousin gave a great eulogy that perfectly captured his life, personality, and legacy.

This year I will be riding for him in addition to others who have lost their battle.

As of today I have crossed the $70,000 mile stone for lifetime fund raising. With any luck, and your help, I could cross the $80,000 mile stone this year.

Less than 90 days..., 2019 Pedal Partner: Ethan

Less than 90 days... The Anticipation Begins...

It is less than 90 days until the 2019 Pan-Mass Challenge and the Anticipation is Growing! 

This year will be my 11th Pan-Mass Challenge and it also happens to be the 40th PMC. That means I will have ridden in over 1/4 of all the PMCs!  As the days get longer and the weather gets (marginally) better the anticipation grows.

It's May, and it has been a long winter with not much good weather to train outside.  Luckily there is now the ability to go on virtual rides in my basement using my bike, a smart trainer, and Zwift. It's a bit odd to say one has logged almost 400 miles over the winter when all of those miles were in my basement  (sometimes next to a volcano!) ;-)

Riding on my trainer, or "Zwifting", combined with my strength training and spin classes at the gym have more that prepared me to hit the cycling season running (so to speak...). Now if only it would stop raining so much...

Introducing our 2019 Pedal Partner

This year we will have a past Pedal Partner as our 2019 Pedal Partner. Ethan Rossi.

Ethan was first PHAT Tuesday's Pedal Partner in 2005 when he was a year old when  he was battling Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  He's now 15 and he's back with us.  This time he's battling a brain tumor.  We are all pulling for him. Stay tuned for more updates on Ethan as we get closer to PMC weekend.

PMC 2019 Here I come...

I have once again registered for the Pan-Mass Challenge. This will be my 11th PMC.

It was just yesterday that I received my 2018 PMC Yearbook in the mail and noticed, after 10 years of PMC, a good number of faces in the yearbook were familiar. The PMC is a great community to be a part of and I have met a lot of great people and made some great friends because through the PMC.

I look forward to training rides with my team and other cyclists I have met.

I have heard so many stories of people battling cancer. Some have survived while other were taken too soon. Raising money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute here in Boston has become a more personal mission with each passing year.

That is why I am once again setting a personal goal to raise $10,000 this year.

Once the Spring rolls around I will start my fund raising efforts in earnest. In the meantime if you would like to help kick me off to a strong start you can donate now:
