The candle did successfully burn itself on both ends and he had reached the point that he found no purpose remaining in the building when he's due back again the same time in the morning. So, deftly as he can manage, he stacked all his unfinished scrolls, bled all his seals, and left out the door.
He fussed with the cross-folding of his robe, tidying it proper along with letting down his hair from the loose bun it was twisted into. Halfway prepared for bed until paused at the softest scurrying somewhere down on the bottom floor.
Suffice to say, his unnatural reach of sensitivity alerted him first, that he elected to ignore, but this presence was warmer, studious, and definitely more welcomed than the usual spying lot that guarded the tower overnight.
